  1. What does what the players do on the field beyond this date have to do in changing Alex's future?
  2. I am calm you troglodyte, slurping, salty dog barking, uphill Brett Gardner gardening, sprinkler swirling bike.
  3. As much as I like this idea. It'll never happen.
  4. I'm starting to believe what Kevin says about the team looking to sell tickets. And sadly I think the current FO is trying to balance selling tickets and trying to win by pushing a lot of money in to bring in name players......non-elite, past their prime names. And the names Bourjos & Gentry don't sell tickets.
  5. And how long do you keep carrying on that train of thought? This is my thought. Say Colby is inked to a 1 year deal like you say. If Colby were to put up a career year in 2015 I would still want him moved at the deadline.
  6. I'll be pissed as well.
  7. I don't care to know what the thought process is of this FO any more. But with what we have, I'd rather Gose start in CF and let Colby go than extend Colby for even one year.
  8. Even if they were to dismantle I could see similar Marlins & Mets type deals happening afterwards. So dismantle to shortly thereafter make a trade to get old, broken and expensive again.
  9. Trading for a CF?
  10. Ken, your second paragraph is the answer to your first paragraph. The Jays will keep all their vets to free agency and let them walk, because god forbid one fan gets upset the Jays traded a player away.
  11. You need to start these types of things with a young player, or a player you know might be with your team for awhile.
  12. I'm not gonna argue prospects vs expensive vets value with you. Expensive vets mean very little to me. They're for the most part a declining asset getting paid for what they did and not what they're going to do. And when the Jays appear to be working with their payroll backs to the wall, you need efficiencies, you need buffers, otherwise the organization is a loser going forward.
  13. Oddly enough Cito never had an issue with guys like McGriff or Delgado going the other way.
  14. If the Jays offered an extra year and more money like they did for Burnett & Ryan, free agents would turn a blind eye to their concerns of playing here and would sign here. And adding a few mil a year on instead of emptying the farm is far more desirable.
  15. What if the return is far greater than what you're trading?
  16. I nabbed Ash's autograph when I was in Philly in '96. One of my prized possessions
  17. Every pitcher was a "quality arm" Even pitchers who weren't Jays.
  18. What bothers me about Alex is he won't overpay for a free agent (E.Santana & reported others), because maybe the value isn't there, but he'll overpay like a motherf*** in making trades.
  19. It doesn't have to be. But no one wants the star players traded, including the Front Office so you're 100% correct.
  20. Sadly there's no option to trade any more. It's either we'll keep you, or let you walk. There's no more trades to extend windows, or get value out of players who may be leaving.
  21. Keep me in mind for the trip next year Kev. Least favourite MiLB game I've seen was in Vegas. It turned into a humid night...said it was 87 degrees in the boxscore, but felt close to 100. My wife hates baseball, so when she's sitting beside me I can feel the "I can't wait till we leave" feeling emanating from her. And some bird behind us who sounded exactly like Cletus Spuckler from the Simpsons kept yelling before every pitch "come on Brett, fire the damn ball".......every pitch, even when Cecil was out of the game, it was still Brett.
  22. Never really a dominant SP at any point in his pro' career either. Hype outpaced what he did on the mound.
  23. Been calling for this for awhile.
