Is there any reason why guys like Brett Anderson or Rich Hill should be given guaranteed contracts and rotation spots on a team going into 2016 barren of MLB starting pitching or depth????
I say no.
Latos has had behavioural problems that go back to his time in the minors and even prior to being drafted.
Here's the blurb from the MLB draft tracker from 2006
"Good stuff and size has been offset with some concerns over immaturity on the mound. Fastball has hit 98 and inconsistent curve has a chance to be a plus pitch."
And another thing on Lackey, are we gonna overpay big? It's likely his last contract, just turned 37. What's the driving interest for him to wanna sign with the Jays?
I'd like to see Leake & Latos inked.
Not upper echelon guys, not guys that could almost be done like Lackey. Guys who are still fairly young.
And yes the Jays should give Estrada a QO
But why anchor yourselves to old players on contracts that will likely exceed 20m per year per guy?
Edwin is a DH at best and Jose is lucky he improvises well in the OF, because it's ugly watching him play it. So all you're paying for is their bats.
As much as I dislike Dickey. I'd rather play it safe and bring him back for his final year on the Team Option.
The SP depth as it stands is horrendous. Too much has to be done just to piece a rotation together at this point.
I'd like to see both moved if they agree to waive their 10/5 rights. That way there's no old bad money. And as meaningless as this is, the fans will only have a short band aid ripped off to be upset if they're both moved.
As much as I'm a fan of brunettes she doesn't do it for me.
And she has this real stupid thing where she makes her voice go all stupid. And constantly drops "you know it"
My take on Pillar's arm is it's an average strength, very accurate arm. And the one trait I love about Pillar that plays his arm up is, he's getting the ball in as soon as he catches it. There's no delay, it's immediate.
