    Jays had 686 runs against.... O's 593 Team pitching peripherals very similar for both teams..... yet O's ERA more than 0.5 runs less. If we disregard park factors and luck.... better defense worth 0.5 runs a game???? This is why.... f*** Melky and Rasmus, roll with Bautista in LF, Pompey CF, Gose RF, sign Scherzer, trade Hutch for a good SS, move Reyes to 2B.... team gets the ace it needs and team defense is massively improved (fingers crossed Lawrie can stay healthy for once)

    Wow! On a related note, I was looking at Oliver's projections for Melky. Have to say I believe those are more accurate, and he is unlikely to repeat this year's performance going forward. Bad body and all that stuff. Liability in the field. Would not be surprised if Pompey outperforms Melky in '15

    For the cost and what he provides at the plate, I would never sign Melky as a $15M a year DH, which is approx. what it will take Melky was playing for a contract, watch him sign somewhere else for 3 years and promptly suck

    Surprised at the negativity towards Gose... he was a very valuable player this year. In an extended time in the bigs, he's managed a .320 ish OBP. With some more experience I can see him levelling off at .335 OBP. He's a guy I see improving for the next few years with regular playing time. Said it before.... QO to Melky and let him walk, take the pick. Rasmus walks. Use funds freed up to sign one of the big 3 FA pitchers. I know, unlikely to come to TO unless its a big overpay. Hutch to the Cubbies for Starlin (sweeten the deal if you have to). Run with an OF of Gose, Pompey, Jose. Essentially replacing Melky with Pompey and I wouldn't be surprised if Pompey outperforms Melky in 2015.

    Berti has chance to carve out a career as a bench guy..... gold glove calibre defense and speed, and has carried a reasonable OBP

    WPA is not highly predictive. Generally, it is not used for player analysis and projecting the future. But it does give us a picture of which players helped their team the most during the course of a game. A fun way to think of WPA is as a storytelling statistic. It highlights the big (and most exciting) moments of a game as well as the players who contributed most to a win (or loss). Like RBIs and HRs, WPA is a counting statistic, meaning that players with more playing time will have more opportunities to accrue a higher WPA. Yer dumn
