of course you move Reyes off short, that's key
Cubs have Baez to replace Castro
Losing Hutch is the cost
nothing wrong with a starting 5 of MB, Dick, Stro, Sanchez, Happ
the bullpen is the main reason the jays didn't make postseason, and Delabar was being counted on to be the late inning righty with Cecil the late inning lefty.... instead McGowan was getting thrown out there and blew several leads
Fair enough.... but Hutch has to be seen as one of the better trade chips to fill positional needs
Whatshisname for Lawrie was a bit of a shocker at the time but worked out reasonable
Nah, run with Bautista, Pompey, Gose, and Pillar as the OFs, use money saved by not signing Melky or Rasmus to get Lester at $22M/yr, and move Hutch for Starlin
Jays 5th in AL in hitting, 10th in pitching, and 10th in fielding, going by WAR
it was the bullpen and weak defense at SS, 3B, CF, and C that did in this team
Would Shields or Scherzer be more valuable to this team then MB or Reyes? I would say yes, and for a little more than what you are paying MB or Reyes you can get one or the other. So doing what you are talking about does not necessarily lead to a talent downgrade. Heck with the way Reyes is going and the frequency he is injured (or playing hurt) it would not be hard to upgrade on him!
