  1. Brett Wallace or Justin Smoak?
  2. Does this signal an active offseason? Sure hope so Smoak seems to be a guy that will benefit from a change in scenery Not a bad move to start off Smoak 1B and EE DH.... if Smoak shits the bed, EE can man 1B and DH by committee Smoak could very well outperform Lind
  3. Stopping distance is considerably longer at 100 than at 60
  4. What? Stopping distance is proportional to speed.... road geometry and speed limits are designed to allow drivers enough time to avoid or stop before impacting a hazard. Taking into account driver reaction time and tire/pavement friction. {Transportation Engineer - 22 years}
  5. Must be protections otherwise Tigers games would be broadcast throughout southwestern Ontario where there are many Tigers fans?
  6. Yes, Detroit is relatively safer... Mexico City has hosted World Cup, Summer Olympics.... no reason it cannot host MLB team There is enough money to support a MLB team in Mexico City, easily..... and no doubt the park built (or existing stadium modified) would hold 80,000+ Mexico City in the NL West would have huge rivalries given large latin American population of American southwest
  7. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/d7/Ciudad.de.Mexico.City.Distrito.Federal.DF.Paseo.Reforma.Skyline.jpg/1280px-Ciudad.de.Mexico.City.Distrito.Federal.DF.Paseo.Reforma.Skyline.jpg 21 Million people
  8. Maybe if they knock down the 'roof'....
  9. who is going to want to play in the knee busting big O
  10. Should be the Royals.... but that might not be palatable to French-Canadians?
  11. Montreal and Toronto in the ALE? The other three teams would be pissed
  12. Exactly, and I've seen a study done in 2008 or thereabouts showing that allowing 50 less runs with the same run differential = 0.5 WINS.... something like that. The other issue is pitching is more volatile, fragile than position players and hence a team with more pitching is more valuable overall. Pitching should return more in trade.
  13. Yes. What I mean is pitching is more volatile than offense, hence more valuable.
  14. Totally disagree Pitching is more important than offense and more valuable on the trade market and the Jays have lots of high end pitching coming up. Chances are one of the high upside arms in the Jays system will be a MLB ace.
  15. I saw Gose play last year and expect him to be better in 2015, and have no problem with him in CF and #9 in the lineup if it means a #1B or #2 starter or an above average 2B or 3B comes to the Jays with the money not invested in Melk.
  16. Pompey + Draft Pick >>> Melky on a 3 or more years deal
  17. I don't think Pirates trade Snider for Lind.... so sad
  18. I might be overoptimistic but can see Pompey out-WAR'ing Melky in 2015..... hell, Melky could beat Pompey OPS by 100 points and Pompey still wins through defence Invest the money elsewhere.... SP or 2B please
  19. No. That's why the 'could be'. He has the stuff, hard with movement.
  20. Try to find a couple more Cecils Failed starters that can be moved to the bullpen and get a velocity uptick from short outings I guess the Jays tried it with McGowan in 2014 and that didn't work out Drabek was pitching out of the bullpen late season and there's a guy that could be dominant in short outings
  21. i should expand on the above comment with the Rays, Friedman was able to trade guys like Shields, Price, etc to maintain a steady flow of elite prospects. Rays ownership allowed this (encouraged?) with the Jays, Friedman would not be permitted to trade Bautista, EE, or anyone else deemed too important to the fanbase by ownership. He may even be directed to give up prospects for Dickey. the point is, the GM like every other working stiff takes direction from someone Friedman is ballyhooed on here only because those he reports too allow him to follow an optimum team building approach. Many GMs would do the same if permitted
  22. also, only the Rays can trade aging stars for a horde of young prospects and get away with it
