  1. Sanchez has options and best place for him is depth in Buffalo
  2. another year removed from TJS and he should be ramping it up a bit more, especially if he becomes a short stint reliever..... we will see him in the bullpen at some point in 2015
  3. Well, Maicer can play 3B, SS, 2B, and he's played in the OF in the past I believe. And he's a switch-hitter who can lay down a bunt. An excellent asset off the bench.
  4. You wearing the rose coloured glasses today? The team as constructed should be a strong contender to reach the postseason. But with the current 5 SP it's difficult to see a long PS run.
  5. Pillar will be the 4th OF and is more than capable of handling CF defensively. Pompey will be the CF unless his bat reaches Goins level, highly unlikely.
  6. True, but not with a 3.45 overall ERA WTF is Hurl using ERA for anyway
  7. Gotta consider the sizeable Asian population too. Ichiro will get some tix bought with the right marketing.
  8. Good call on Morrow. If he agrees to relieve, he might be the best one out there.
  9. Can't see it. His stuff is no better than Redmond's. He's bullpen material.
  10. Except that's not what I said.
  11. Agree. Need two bullpen pieces to go with Cecil, Loup, Estrada, Redmond. Sanchez needs to be starting in Buffalo and be the injury callup. Jenkins might be good but better to have him as depth in Buffalo.
  12. Nah, Nolin is going to get butt hurt in MLB
  13. He's above average at one thing. Not worth more than $10M AAV. And not a good fit for the Jays, offense is the least of the Jays needs at this point.
  14. Already reasonable internal options for LF and 2B. Heck, I'd be fine with Travis in LF. Use the money saved by not signing Melky and by moving Happ and Navarro (for good, cheap RP) to sign Shields for 4 years, and Lowrie for 2. The bottom 4 of the lineup would be Smoak/Pillar/Valencia, Lowrie, Travis, Pompey which is not bad, and besides the top 5 will create plenty of runs. SP Shields Dickey Stroman MB Hutchison That's one heck of a good and durable rotation. Remember the days of crossing our fingers on Morrow, McGowan, Johnson, etc
  15. Yes, when the spouse is lacking in the tools department, this sometimes happens.
  16. Wouldn't the OF be harder on Reyes' knees? For sure he will never dive for a ball. I would DH Reyes before moving him to LF.
  17. Exactamundo As it is, the Jays do not need Melky's 1-dimensional play. A strong defense, average bat in LF is better for the Jays at this point. Plenty of cheap options for this that allows money to go to pitching.
  18. Also, Lawrie could be Zobrist 2.0 Is Beane going... a 5 WAR player when healthy that can play multiple positions.... yes, I like
  19. Yes, but not critical. As things stand the lineup can be 5 righties, 3 switchhitters, and a platoon.
  20. Cespedes isn't as good as you might think. And he's a free agent after this year. Beane thought Lester would bring a WS.
  21. He took a risk. It all hinges on Lawrie of course. Lawrie's talent is equivalent (and arguably higher) than Donaldson. He's also younger. If Lawrie stays healthy and re-finds the power stroke, Beane wins.
  22. Ideally the 1st and 2nd hitters are high OBP, then 3rd, 4th, 5th are guys that put the ball in play, don't strike out much. Reyes, Martin, Bautista, Donaldson, EE is how I would line them up
  23. I'm not so sure there is money available for big free agent signings. Back loading Martin and targeting JD rather then Panda suggests otherwise. AA said they will be creative with the budget and so far that is what we are seeing. Pompey is not going to be the only league min on the field, IMO. But if those other league min guys are Travis and someone like Profar (ok maybe not), gotta be OK with that. Does Dickey, Thole, Osuna, DSJ get Profar? Have no idea what it would take. He's not yet 22 and the talent is undeniable. Health another ?.
  24. A man can dream
