oh i know Haren is not a #1 pitcher any longer. he'll give the same number of wins for the best offense in baseball that a Hamels will for an average offence. what i am really questioning is do the jays need to trade 3 top prospects for an ace..... what difference does it make if they win 8-1 or 8-4, a win is a win
why funny.... many teams have won using a strong offence and average pitching.... ever hear of the Big Red Machine? jays don't necessarily need an ace to win
It means rather than overpay for an ace with your top prospects, keep them and get a Haren for a couple of B prospects. With Jays offense, a No 2 or 3 starter can provide No 1 starter results.
Where did i say stroman for a rental? Just pointing out that if the objective is to win now, moving an injured player like Stroman who is unlikely to contribute this year, for the missing pieces would be in play. I didnt advocate for it.
With the Jays offense do they need to overpay for a high end starter? What about guys like Haren, Cashner, Hughes that could be had for a lot less?
E: or Leake from the Reds ~60% GB%
Can injured players be traded? Stroman is fantastic, which is why the return would be huge. If the Jays are going to be moving top flight talent to win now, can expect an injured Stroman to be in play....
In your earlier post you said you can't see any scenario where Sanchez becomes a top of the rotation starter, which is what I took issue with, and a short time later you give odds of 2-5%. Contradicting yourself.
A) is wrong, is correct.
It was a good trade without factoring in salaries, which the great majority of casual and die hard fans don't pay much attention to.
He's 22 yrs old with a good arsenal of pitches. He has the time and talent to be a front end starter, but he needs to make a number of improvements. And he has been improving. There is a scenario.
