  1. not really, when hitters, including s***** ones, consistently hit a pitcher hard, whether grounders or liners, the pitcher maybe shouldnt be in MLB
  2. loup is a low leverage reliever or AAAA guy.... he has been very hittable all year
  3. Gibby showing confidence in Loup, OK, but first sign of trouble get him out
  4. Loup does the LOOGY job..... thats his role, nothing else!
  5. Trading EE in particular for pitching could make for a better team, when Smoak and lefty killer Valencia are available. Won't happen, moot.
  6. have to include Hech, Snider, Marisnick but yes very s*****.... its an indictment of JPR
  7. 83 pitches for Chi Chi through 4.2 IP..... another benefit of a high powered offence
  8. No but if every year you draft a couple of elite hitting prospects (or sign them, such as Vlad Jr), it is probable every 3-5 years you will have a Bautista or EE - kinda like draft 10, hit the jackpot with 1. Jays used to have guys like Delgado, Kent, Bell, and others come up every 3-5 years.... has been pretty bare for the last 10.
  9. Depends on which study you buy into. Baseball Prospectus Debut Age Peak(s) 0-22 26, 29 23 26 24 29 25 25, 29 26 27, 32 27 32 6 of the 9 peaks in the above are age 27 to 32
  10. 27-30 is prime for a pitcher??
  11. AA had no intention of picking up the option, and Lind had to be moved quickly to set the stage for other moves. Wasn't much time to shop him around. Who knows why AA wasn't going to pick up the option.... clubhouse culture reasons quite possible.
  12. Joe Kelly is in his prime. Sanchez has 5 years to go to hit his prime. Plenty of time for improvements. He's working on the changeup..... get 10 mph separation and deception and the K's will come.
  13. When you draft and develop, you don't need to get lucky.
  14. Don't be so sure about Sanchez not having a #1 ceiling. #27 Baseball America, #25 Baseball Prospectus, #14 Sickels, despite much less than stellar MiLB stats, suggests otherwise. The stuff is there.
  15. Sanchez had 2.19 xFIP in his 4th start If he gave up 3 dingers a lot of you guys would be all over him Reality is... Sanchez has #1 or #2 ceiling, whereas Boyd has #3 ceiling. Also there is an age diff. Perfectly valid to value Sanchez over Boyd
