    Jansen is the only one no longer classifying as a prospect. Jays are most definitely top 5 farm currently. I didn't see anyone claim the Jays would have a top 5 farm after Vlad is no longer a prospect. I and others have an issue with Pelfrey saying the Jays farm will rank 18-20 next offseason. Ridiculous. Later this season when Vlad is no longer a prospect, Jays will still be top 10 farm. You can take that to the bank.

    He basically said the Jays farm is thin after Vlad, Jansen, Biggio, Bichette. Disagree. Pearson, Groshans, and Pardinho are currently on BA 100 and the Jays have a number of other players worthy of top 100 consideration.

    These evaluations are a snapshot in time. Prospects are very fluid. Overall, Jays prospects have performed very well this year. No way does the Jays farm drop to the bottom half.

    So did Mr. Manuel make those comments before or after the big strides Pearson and Groshan have made this year, among others? Jays prospects have been doing very well this year. Quite unlikely the farm ranking drops to 18-20.

    Can't look at it that way, solely. The salary commitment taken on reduced the flexibility to make other moves, and the players traded could have been used in a different trade, etc. Miami trade was a mixed result, would not call it good.

    A lot wrong with this post. Signing a bunch of age 30-plus crap to short term contracts to fill team holes during a rebuild (and with the hope they do well and can be moved for youth), is just baseball 101. What the team is doing now is immaterial. Building a winner is a multi year process. See: Astros, Houston.

    You forget, after the 2013 offseason trades the Jays were the favourites to win the WS. The Miami and Mets trades were definitely going all in.

    Nah, it was to kickstart a window of contention. And 'taking advantage' is debateable.

    The going all in for the window of contention started with the Miami blockbuster, when the swapping of youth for older players started.

    AA had his strengths. And he made it clear he was building for a short window of contention. That window is now passed. What we watched in 2015/2016 and what we are watching now, are a direct result of AA going all in.

    None of these guys had much trade value when they were dealt. If JD had been moved after the 2017 season (he was a top 10 hitter in baseball the 2nd half, IIRC), the return would have been much better. Could have been Jack Flaherty and one other, apparently.

    Yes, and the floor for Borucki and Thornton is a MLB bullpen arm.

    This is incorrect. The Osuna return has been terrific. 2 months of an injured JD, or 2 months of a Happ, or a declining mediocre Pillar is not going to get much return.
