  1. BTS beats the Jerb by a split second.
  2. With Cleveland's objective being to reduce payroll, if they lack in suitors they should end up with less than fair value for the two players. Trust in Shatkins. We will lose a significant farm piece for Lindor alone, probably Groshans or Orelvis with Bo and Frankie locking down the left side of the IF for years to come. The Carrasco add shouldn't result in the loss of any additional top prospects, but a couple of low level lottery picks, or a Van Eyk and another piece.
  3. Park adjustments are nowhere close to being perfect
  4. From a few days ago, Sportsnet: "The most intriguing option for the Blue Jays is Kim, whose age, talent and versatility make him a rare commodity on the open market. Blue Jays scouts have been watching Kim for some time in anticipation of his posting and have continued to do due diligence on him this winter. They believe Kim’s athleticism could allow him to play all over the diamond, an obvious benefit for an organization that values versatility." How does this look, defensively and offensively? And plenty of versatility. Bichette - 3B (SS) Biggio - 2B (3B/OF) Lindor - SS Vlad - 1B (DH/3B) Hernandez - RF Tellez - DH (1B) Grichuk - LF (CF) Jansen / Kirk - C Kim - CF (SS/2B) ~$40M for Lindor and Kim, leaves some room to add pitching
  5. Yep, looks like he's making a launch angle adjustment.
  6. Teo will get plenty of reps in the OF. Injuries, cycling the lineup, etc. I do wonder if Kim can play CF. Plenty of speedy middle INFs have made an easy transition to CF.
  7. I look at it from the other side of the coin. The difference between us and Tampa is we can afford big ticket free agents, as long as, like Tampa, some of our younger players are moved before they become too expensive.
  8. With more reps I suspect Biggio would by mid season become one of the better LFs the Jays have run out there over the years.
  9. For his career Story is a 125 wRC+ bat at Coor's and 100 wRC+ elsewhere.
  10. He must have read what L54 posted. If the Tampa Bay Rays can do a sustained run with a $70M or whatever player salary commitment, the Jays can certainly do the same with a $140M or whatever salary commitment. Just need the guts to regularly trade core players before they get too expensive for prospects, even when the team is a top contender.
  11. Cruz the epitome of high risk / high reward
  12. Stieb at his peak was awesome, and these days with sabermetrics is considered by many to have been the best pitcher in MLB in the 1980's. I would get excited starting two days before his next start. Not many other pitchers as entertaining as Stieb. Doc, Rocket Roger, Pedro, Ryan are a couple of others - pitchers you just had to watch.
  13. This, though... Previously, on September 24 and 30, 1988, Stieb had no-hitters broken up with two outs and two strikes in the top of the ninth inning in two consecutive starts.
  14. Ranger have apparently signed David Dahl. Nice landing spot for him.
  15. Good to see Vladdy answering the kneejerk critics after his first game.
  16. Too much, I think - Cleveland doesn't have a lot of leverage here and apparently a lack of suitors. Gurriel + Pardinho + Adams should do it.
  17. All the noise about Lindor to the Jays makes it seem like a conditional deal is in place, they are negotiating an extension.
  18. Depends on how one defines elite. Shapiro's job in part is to excite the fanbase.
  19. Sarris at the Athletic predicting the Jays sign Sugano 5/$50
  20. From the point of view of trying to retain the present core, you are right. Getting Lindor would be expensive yes, but frees up a guy like Biggio as a trade chip before he starts getting expensive, when his value is still very high.
  21. I'm wondering if the impetus for the deal is to make Yandy Diaz exclusively a 1B/DH along with Choi, and you know who takes over 3B.

  23. Moving Arenado, Story, Marquez would accelerate a Rockies rebuild, but not enough O2 gets to the brain in Denver.
  24. Lindor, then Springer. Would everyone be happy with that?
