  1. Some of us are just going through a period of bitterness towards AA because it turned out that he didn't see out the 5 year plan and traded away a bunch of the players we had become attached to. It's human nature, some of us feel betrayed. It doesn't matter if ownership didn't want to wait to year 5 to start seeing the system bear fruits, the GM is the one who takes the blame for our heartbreak.
  2. I agree, but the offense has no excuses either, their approach is well, nonexistent.
  3. I agree, but would include the coaching along with the front office. I think it was obvious that this team was unprepared to start the season, it seemed obvious to me since the opening series and they just let them be.
  4. The way I see it is that if they had played better at the start of the year, they wouldn't have gone on an 11 game win streak so they'd be in pretty much the same position. I think there's a lot of underachieving going on.
  5. Did anyone even notice that Cabrera is playing in Dunedin tonight? He's 1 for 3 in case anyone cares.
  6. I agree, I predicted a 1-5 roadtrip so they'll get swept this weekend. Of course, I hope they actually sweep the O's and get back to .500, but that's wishful thinking.
  7. Best thing to do is to deal relievers for the best they can get, hopefully there's a match for a young 2B or starting pitcher. This should've been year where they took a step back for the good of the franchise given the state of the rotation at the end of last season. Even if they had made the Marlins trade and stopped there, I could live with it as at least they got 2 starters and Reyes. Anyway...
  8. Only "good" thing about Osuna being injured is that he won't be dealt.
  9. I don't think you can say that the Blue Jays have been doing what the teams you mentioned are doing. You can argue that that's what they SHOULD do or have done, but it seems to me that for a long time they've been trying to avoid going into a full rebuild where they have a top 5 pick for 3 or so years in a row. I also don't understand your point about comp picks from Ricciardi hold-overs. I mean, he could've just resigned the FA if he didn't want the picks? You still have to draft the right players and so many teams passed on guys like Sanchez and Syndergaard, I would think they should get credit for drafting them just like they get crap for not drafting other players. It is what it is. I certainly wish he had continued to build the team and farm like he was doing instead of trying to improve his record at the MLB level by trading so much for older, expensive players.
  10. Where did I mention a rental? Besides, why would AA announce to the baseball world that he's gonna get a rental? All I said was that if there's a move for a 3B, they'll probably overpay based on the overpayments of the last 12 months.
  11. Given all the horrible moves and decisions of the last 12 months or so, it's likely that they're moving Lawrie to 2B for Izturis. Gibbons mentioned that they want to take advantage of Lawrie's range so maybe there won't even be a move made. Anyway, if there's a move, say good bye to maybe all of Stroman, Sanchez, Osuna, Jimenez, Nolin, etc. I know it seems crazy, but look at how much AA's been overpaying by and this doesn't seem so farfetched.
  12. Didn't see that, but there's no doubt that it was a disaster of a draft, even if they manage to sign one or 2 of Brentz/Tellez, et al. The only bright spot is King Kalfus.
  13. Putting the cart before the horse, don't you think? We don't know who they'll end up with. Most were surprised at the Bickford selection. Blair could scrutinize why so many were surprised by Bickford going that high. Anyway....
  14. It's a waste of a pick, at least for this year. Maybe they'll get a stud next year that will shoot up through the minors, but I doubt it. It's obvious this Parker character was out to lunch and needs to be canned.
  15. It's looking bleak for AA and his minions. This is turning into a disaster. The worst part about this is that no one in the media scrutinizes anything. You've got Blair who's an AA lover and won't say a word.
  16. I wanted Bickford signed, but only under slot or maybe at slot. We'll have to wait till next year to see if this is made up for by getting a better talent. I thought this was a very important draft given how much talent was traded away, but in reality all drafts are important. If they can get Brentz, Tellez and another guy, it would lessen the blow.
  17. Ok, yes he did. Great move. I'm not gonna criticize Kawasaki, I mean it's an error, just at the wrong time, to say the least. I saw him and Reyes turn a very good DP in the 1st inning, anyway....great win!
  18. As much as I want them to sign Bickford and get him in the system ASAP, if he wants over slot money, he can go ahead and risk being injured or not developing in college instead of in the minors with a big paycheck in the bank.
  19. Bottomline is that Cecil got hit pretty hard. That ball Reyes missed was well hit and appeared to skip off the mound and luckily Santana hit it too hard and straight at Bonifiasco if not, this one's over.
  20. I predicted they'd get swept, they're back to playing like it was April and they show no sign of turning it around, that line up is horrible.
