  1. This team will end up better than last year's team. The issue to me is that they abandoned the plan seemingly to build hype and sell tickets with established/older, expensive and riskier players. I've said this before, but they needed to give the plan another year to recover from the pitching injuries and possibly end up with another top 10 draft pick in 2014 (it would be 2 now). The organization would be younger, healthier and with several talented youngsters in the upper minors. Anyway....
  2. So who misses the AS break? On the other hand, I can get on board with tanking for a pick in the next 2 months.
  3. Funny some of us took flak for suggesting this was going on. Anyway, at least he knows how to build a championship team...too bad it's in Vancouver.
  4. I don't know why people get excited about what any GM says to the media when it comes to trade rumors, it's all posturing. I do think Beeston is running the team for the most part which is a big reason why they went retard last offseason, it probably fits his retirement schedule. At the end of the day, there have to be moves or they'll lose players for nothing, but Beeston may be willing to do that (see Escobar), instead of looking like they're giving up on the season.
  5. For sure. I said before, I'd love another Rasmus/Escobar type deal to plug one of the MLB holes or get a decent prospect or 2. I really like the idea of keeping Stroman, Nolin and Hutchison and have have them start next year at AAA. Boy, if they had only waited another year, the franchise would be in some shape with these 3 guys + Marisnick in AAA + arguably Syndergaard. Sanchez and Nicolino in AA and Norris possibly in Dunedin. D'Arnaud, Gose...NVM.
  6. I agree. I just like the idea of selling high on Delabar or any of the bullpen pieces to possibly plug one of the holes on the MLB level or get a prospect without trading away any other prospects.
  7. I'd be very tempted to trade Delabar. He has somewhat upstaged Janssen by being chosen to the ASG. At the very least, I'd gauge his trade value with other teams.
  8. I will have to disagree...he must fire him! Ok, kidding aside. I think Gibbons is AA's guy, he'll sink or swim with him....and Bonifacio.
  9. Santos' return is also imminent, or did I miss it and he had a setback? If he's on schedule, that's another 40-man roster spot that needs to be opened up.
  10. There's no doubt there was some of this. AA was forced to get rid of Escobar, make no mistake about it, that's just one example. I don't think it necessarily excuses AA for overpaying, but acting under pressure can lead to desperate moves in an attempt to not end up empty-handed. Anyway, I won't get into this whole thing again, it is what it is, let's move forward.
  11. They should try to trade JJ and maybe 2-3 bullpen guys and I don't just mean Darren Oliver/Juan Perez. I'm talking Janssen, Delabar or Cecil. I think they could get a couple of good prospects for these guys. At least deal from strength, a Rasmus/Escobar type deal would be freaking great.
  12. And Darren Oliver, I'd actually trade Oliver ahead of Perez unless you can get "more" for Perez.
  13. LOL. The roster situation will probably prevent AA from trading for another reliever. Hutchison and Happ should be ready to be activated around the deadline and both will need to be added to the 40-man roster.
  14. F-that, promote Davis there.
  15. Oh I know, but f*** him, Sanchez's development should be viewed as more important....too late now.
  16. He's no Travis Snider though.
  17. Drabek was already optioned. Don't know about Morrow, but he's far away from a return. Hutch and Happ will have to be put back on the 40-man roster, so there will need to be a couple of bullpen guys traded or DFA'ed if they have no options.
  18. Lol, I guess I'm a bit frustrated 'cause I expected him to pitch the 2nd half in AA, but the command is still not there despite all the reports of a clean delivery. On a side note, why make him come out of the bullpen? He's their top pitching prospect, I don't get it. Anyway...
  19. So who would take Redmond's place in the starting rotation? I guess they don't have to make a move till he's supposed to start, but then it'll be Happ, then Hutchison. It'll be interesting 'cause the returns are coinciding with the trade deadline.
  20. That's cute, but the results are simply underwhelming. One can only hope the performance catches up to his velocity.
  21. Good to see Happ on his way back. Speaking of rehabbing players, when will Cabrera be activated and who will go down or be dfa'ed?
  22. I know this doesn't confirm anything, but it's funny how nuts people have been going over a rumor that the Jays were a front-runner.
  23. You're just the anti-angrioter, prefer Cubans over Dominicans.
  24. Stroman and Nolin arguably increasing their value as we approach the deadline, it'll be interesting to see if AA deals either of them.
  25. Did anyone notice that Harper drilled a woman in the RF bleachers? That's grounds for divorce right there. Edit: A line drive homer he hit drilled a woman in the RF bleachers.
