  1. Looks like I'll get a WS prediction right for a change. Red Sox will sweep, just the way we all envisioned this freakin' season.
  2. To sell tickets.
  3. Yup, agree with you except that I think they'll sweep the Cards. Red Sox can't do a thing wrong this year, I wouldn't be surprised if Molina has 4 passed balls in this series lol.
  4. I think AA should be made to stick with the starters he overpaid for. If he can get JJ to agree to a 1-year deal for less than the QO, that's fine. If he can sign Tanaka, that's fine. However, to me, he already "addressed" the pitching last offseason, he just chose poorly and I wouldn't trust him to just trade away more prospects for starters when he traded so much already. If he could trade some bullpen arms for to fill one of the other holes, that would be ideal.
  5. Well, we're going into the offseason so there's a very good chance he won't blow out his arm. I agree with you, but if this is offer is true, 10 or 20M more aren't going to prevent the Dodgers from signing him. Who knows, if this offer was actally made, but it sounds like something the Dodgers would do and 10 or 20M more ain't going to stand in their stupid way.
  6. For sure. And it would be even better if the team wasn't run by people who believe in these windows of opportunity.
  7. The thing is, the team will need bounce-back seasons from several key positions in order to contend, both in terms of health and performance, so for this reason I don't mind a guy like Espinosa although I'd rather just spend money on an Infante or KJ, but we don't really know how much money is really available.
  8. I live in Mtl so it would be great to have a team here again, but I doubt it will happen any time soon. Plus I have my doubts the support is here. The language and business issues are big "ifs" plus who knows how big the baseball market really is.
  9. And he's the type of hitter that people keep saying epitomizes what's wrong with the Blue Jays' approach. I understand the hypothetical proposal is to trade Romero for him, but I'd rather they spend money on guys like Infante and Ruiz. I also like the idea of management being made fun of for paying Romero to play at AAA.
  10. As much as the Tigers' bullpen deserves blame, it's also important to point out other mistakes made by them. Their offense/base running blew a 1st and 3rd with no outs opportunity in the 6th with 2 runs already in. Jackson getting picked off in the 7th was huge. Iglesias's error was also huge. This was only in this game. I also thought Leyland mishandled the bullpen in the 8th inning of game 2. It also doesn't help that they have 3 DHs when there's only one DH spot so 2 of them play on the corner infield positions. Anyway, it will be interesting to see what kinds of tweaks they make.
  11. I wonder if Leyland will be back also. Anyway, at least they made the playoffs...
  12. That's true, he'll be a Tiger for a looong time. They really blew this series, I wonder if Dumbrowski will be fired.
  13. Not a gambling man, just doing my part in jinxing them.
  14. Maybe he's thinking, "if they're willing to offer 300M, I'm sure I could get 310M out of them".
  15. Red Sox will win this game, no doubt in my mind. Edit: Tigers will find a way to lose this game, no doubt in my mind.
  16. As much as I'd like to see the Red Sox knocked out, this Tigers team really deserves to lose.
  17. Red Sox go ahead, boy Tigers look horrible at the plate again.
  18. I say get Infante or even KJ, sign Tanaka or Garza and Ruiz and keep the starting pitching depth.
  19. Seitzer seems like a good hire, but I don't think Mottola was against the contact to all fields approach. For me it's more about the Mottola firing. I know he's just a coach and Gibbons probably wants his own guy, but this just doesn't sit well with me, especially the story about Murphy and Mottola being a tandem, that's pure BS from AA, he just didn't have the balls to fire Murphy and give the job to Mottola last year. Anyway, let's hope things work out.
  20. LOL. I haven't watched a single pitch of this game, I just think Boston will pull this series out and win the WS even though they should've been swept by Detroit. You just can't blow a 5-0 lead and get shut out by Lackey at home and expect to win.
