I read the article right around the time it was posted (it facilitated a bit of a stir between Tom Tango and the hockey analytics community). Skinny commented on it, and it's a good point: I get what Phil was trying to determine (and I find most of his work impressive, especially baseball and general statistics work), but I haven't been impressed by his hockey stuff.

The difference between Carlyle and Horachek is night and day. Leafs neutral zone play and breakout actually looked good this game and the last.

I know Aselvana didn't set his lineup for the past few weeks, but isn't that too short a time span to boot someone out of the league? I mean, Grant was MIA in the Premier League for most of the season (May and beyond) and he's still in the league (unless something recent happened). I understand why Wilko was booted, since he was absent as far back as the draft, but Aselvana did do some activity as recent as mid-late December.

My goaltending situation improved after Jimmy Howard's groin injury. More starts from Mrazek now. Also, Mike Smith still sucks.

That was one of the best defensive games from the Leafs this season, and it wasn't against Buffalo (mind you, Columbus' numbers aren't that good, either).
