  1. Came here to post this. I turned on my TV and Volquez is facing Cola for a 3rd time with two on 105 pitches into his start. Egregious.
  2. Just tuning in now. Anything interesting happen?
  3. It's a good thing he doesn't have Figgins and Ichiro to double sac a single over to third in the second inning.
  4. Nah. There is a 100% certainty that this series will be littered with awful Ned Yost decisions.
  5. Over the last two years: Gordon = 122 wRC+ in 1065 PA (120 vs. RHP) Escobar = 80 wRC+ in 1282 PA (74 vs. RHP) Leading Escobar off is absurd, but he's probably not the only manager who would hit the fast contact guy first. Doing while batting Gordon 8th is not even believable. I can't even wrap my head around the fact that he's hit Alex Gordon 8th all through the playoffs.
  6. Thought about it, but Rios has at least been hitting a bit so I gave him a break. I'm sure there will be some highly questionable bunts later on tonight though.
  7. The worst manager in baseball should provide us with endless entertainment. 1. Alex Gordon hitting 8th in game 1. 2. Alcides Escobar leading off in game 1.
  8. I probably should have kept Matz too. Garrett Richards doesn't look like the upgrade I thought he was. Oh well, maybe Meadows will amount to something.
  9. Me too. Those 4 starts we shared together were magical.
  10. It's all just narratives. Beane clearly thought he was an issue.
  11. Josh Donaldson would probably be regarded as a hotheaded ******* if the team finishes with like 85 wins this year.
  12. I never got the impression that employing guys like Aybar and Lueke was a desperate concession made to help deal with the challenges of a low payroll. If you value character at all, those two weren't talented enough to be worth any kind of risk. I really think Friemdan just doesn't give it much regard at all.
  13. I'd be surprised if it came to that. Say what you want about the strategy, but Friedman employed all manner of human garbage while running TB. Selling Puig for pennies on the dollar because of perceived character issues would be a strong departure from his MO. I'd go so far as to say the Dodgers are the last team I'd expect to make a move like that. If anything, I think Puig might not be as good as his performance so far, and his character issues have hurt LA's ability to sell high.
  14. Maybe. To clarify, my comment wasn't that Toronto would or should trade Stroman for him, it was that it's difficult to conceive of a deal that didn't include Stroman. LA would be looking for a long-term asset at SP or possibly 2B or OF, and turning a dime into two nickels doesn't really appeal to a team like that.
  15. LA could definitely get a pitcher on Stroman's level for Puig. The popular deadline rumour was Puig for Harvey. I'm interested in seeing what you think a Toronto offer for Puig would look like.
  16. Hard to conceive of a deal that doesn't include Stroman.
  17. What would that even look like?
  18. What happened? I saw the freakout as I was tuning in, but didn't have any context.
  19. Really? Rondon, Strop, Grimm, and Wood is a pretty acceptable late-inning combo. I don't think it's really worse than any remaining groups.
  20. A 4-win player isn't good enough?
  21. They won't need to, but they probably will.
  22. Well that sucks.
  23. C - Grandal 1B - Gonzalez 2B - 3B - Turner SS - Seager CF - Pederson LF - Ethier/Van Slyke RF - Puig OF - Ethier/Van Slyke 2B/3B/OF - Hernandez Kershaw McCarthy Wood Urias Bolsinger Even if they don't keep Kendrick and Greinke they look primed to win 90+ games and take the NL West again next year. They don't have any holes except maybe 2B, but I imagine they'll sign Zobrist and top starter.
  24. Cubs are scary with Soler hitting. They already have Rizzo and Bryant and Schwarber, and Soler gives them four monster bats, plus secondary guys like Fowler, Montero, and Russell. Also Lester and Arrieta 5 times in a 7-game series. Scary.
  25. 1+1 = 3
