  1. Trading Brendan Rodgers for Juan Soto in the DDL is one of my life's greatest accomplishment.

There's going to be a lengthy lockout over this.

Ottawa might might actually be the worst run team in professional sports. It's actually reached the point of hilarity though.

Doesn’t Marleau only make like 4M in real money? He’ll be easily moved IMO. Ottawa will probably be interested given that they’re going to have a hard time reaching the floor and his cap hit exceeds his salary.

Is 4 forwards for 40M a viable way to build a team? Feels like Nylander is gone for prospects/someone on an ELC this summer.

I forgot how sensitive you get when people troll the leafs.

My Leafs fan friend was telling me that the only way Matthews signs for 5 years was for a cap hit under 10M lol.
  9. My planned cuts: CJ Cron Nick Williams Felix Pena Jordan Zimmermann Ji-Man Choi I'd like to deal Ramon Laureano for a top-100 prospect or SP upgrade.
  10. Spittin just took him
  11. Her window expired. You're up.
  12. Anyone have any issues re-assigning divisions with a draft after the dispersal draft? I think we had forgotten to set them last year, and now we have a bunch if new owners so it kinda makes sense to hit the reset button on divisional alignment.

So I go to HFboards to open up the Duchene contract thread to see if there have been any updates, and I see this from a mod in giant letters: What a terrible forum.
  14. There is nothing resembling a roster crunch on the 25-man right now. Morales can be sent packing. Pompey can be DFA'd. McKinney, and Hernandez can be optioned. Travis will probably be on the DL most of the year. The team could comfortably go out and get Span, Moustakas, and Marwin, and nothing of value would be lost.
  15. Sure, but absent any of the other errors in thinking that happened over that time it’s also the right way to approach things. Adding a few quality vets on cheap FA deals to a team projected at 77 wins is a no-brainer.
  16. The team is currently projected at 77 wins. I don't think that's bad enough that you throw in the towel in February. The Rays and A's would have also projected at around 0.500 a year ago too IIRC.
  17. Diaz isn't a good defensive shortstop.
  18. Vlad isn't going to play the first 2-3 weeks of the season, and he isn't going to play 3B every day after that. Moose fits nicely in a fully healthy roster: - 3B every day until Vlad is called up - 3B twice a week after April, and then another 4-5 starts at 1B/DH. - insurance against Vlad getting hurt or not being viable at 3B I think he's a pretty clean fit, and easily worth what he's likely to get. Definitely an improvement on Morales.
  19. This team isn't nearly good enough to thumb their nose at a 2-3 win player who probably signs for like 1/6. Just punt Morales.
  20. There isn't currently a player I'd remove from the 40 to make room for Axford. Pompey is cuttable, but we have enough interesting relievers outside the 25-man that I wouldn't cut an OF to add a replacement-level reliever. Ditto Urena: if he's cut it needs to be for someone who can play short. And I certainly wouldn't cut any of the arms for Axford. A guess a 60-day DL stint could change things, but barring a new injury, we don't currently have anyone scheduled to be put on the 60-day.
  21. I also like Gurriel. Not as an everyday shortstop, but rather as a super-utility player who can handle every infield position. Get him an outfield glove and have him play the corners there too. Given his skill set it's not unreasonable to think he could be a league-average hitter with above-average D at 2B and maybe 3B, and acceptable D at SS, LF, and RF.
  22. Weird draft right now. Players are going that would never usually get traded for the 1st round MiLB picks still on the board.
