  1. No. If Cecil was still on the market I would've had no problems giving him a multi year deal.
  2. If you want to piss of most non-Toronto Jays fans, just remind them that they're Toronto's team. They need that constant reminder that "OMG CANADAAAAA" The inferiority complex that Canada in general seems to have is pretty embarrassing. Can't blame the franchise for doing it though, they're playing the rest of Canada for it like a goddamn flute, and it's working.
  3. Ridicule from whom? You? Brownie also stated his list was the same as mine and Boxcar
  4. He should, his peak was easily HoF calibre. And it was him between him and Santana as the best pitchers of the mid 2000's. His only knock is the relative lack of total innings compared to other HoFs. But imo he gets in regardless.
  5. IMO Pompey's gonna have an realistic shot of making the starting OF out of spring training.
  6. Aside from the Steamer projections which show Saunders to be a 101 wRC+ bat compared to Bautista's 128. My biggest gripe (one of many) of the article is, a 30 year old outfielder with an extensive injury history is not what one would consider to be in his "prime." King, I love a good troll, but you gotta up your game.
  7. I didn't see this posted but apparently Saunders got 9 million from the Phillies with a second year option.
  8. I wonder what a scout's reaction would be to a slow, short swing?
  9. I'm just curious though, at what point do the numbers speak for themselves? IIRC you want a guy who starts putting up results at a higher level instead of a scout's wet dream. It's not like Tellez is a Kevin Pillar situation either, where he's hitting in a league where he's old enough to be the pitchers dad, Tellez is one of the youngest players in the league and he just threw up a 150 wRC+. After high A, I think it's time that if a guy keeps hitting like Tellez does, you tell those old crusty scouts to shove it and start considering Tellez to be a legit prospect.
  10. Trumbo's peaking at age 31 guys. Don't you forget it.
  11. If/when those guys go down, Biagini acting as a depth swingman after Bolsinger probably wouldn't be the worst thing.
  12. Liriano should be starting, the dogg is a f***ing idiot. Both are two obvious and relevant facts here.
  13. The Blue Jays' BP was probably the most underrated bullpen of all the playoff teams, they gave up a total of 2 earned runs in the entire playoffs 39.1 total innings. The bullpen was a major reason why they made it as far as the ALCS in the first place. I can think of 3 games easy how the BP saved them games. So I don't understand when you say that BP was not "postseason calibre" and that "what a bad BP did to us," because both of those things aren't true.
  14. "I'm not a scientist, but..."
  15. It's long since known that Team Italy's recruitment process is most suspect. If your last name ends in a vowel, and you can speak at least one word in Italian you can qualify.
  16. It really doesn't matter if you bashed people or disagreed with them, the fact remains is that since AA tried to go all out in a manner that only left a few years of contention. 2016 was basically the last year that they could reasonably expect to contend. The fact that they have a shot at the wildcard next year is beyond what anyone could have, or should have hoped for. But now you want to try and milk the rest out of this team for a non-guaranteed shot at the wildcard for one, maybe two years max. What could happen after that? They're gonna be a lot worse than what you said is 3-5 years of being irrelevant.
  17. The man is so boldly predicting that Martin will play like s*** at the start of the season = because he played in a tournament for like...3 games.
  18. Wonder if Taillon's gonna pitch for Canada again this year.
  19. As mythical it may sound, it is possible to rebuild a franchise while staying relatively competitive. Better than to try and go all in with older players and financially handcuff yourself. Is it so damn hard to understand?
  20. Bonds Schilling Clemens Raines Walker Mussina Bagwell Ramirez Pudge Edgar It's pretty easy, but the 10 player limit on the ballot is stupid, Guerrero deserves it as well. Hoffman sure I guess...he was one of the few relievers who was consistently good for a long time.
  21. DEF value takes position into account, 1st base is not a very valuable position defensively, so even if he's a good defensive first baseman with , the lack of value the position provides by default hurts his metrics. The 8.0 UZR isn't enough to compensate the lack of value at first base.
  22. Yeah, it's 10 exactly, with 32 starts not belonging to the original starting 5. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/so-how-many-starters-does-a-team-need-then/
