  1. Steamer projects Carroll to comfortably out-WAR Moreno next year.
  2. In context of the team's need, your exactly right that Varsho fits. Sure the price is steep, but maybe front offices aren't valuing Moreno as highly as you are. The lack of power is a concern.
  3. I think they're bringing in the stands slightly where the bullpens go
  4. Lol, classic Gruber. You tell 'em!
  5. Yes, because f*** depth when players get injured and you're trying to make the playoffs. Let's just throw a replacement level shitbag and hope for the best!
  6. Impact bat? Lol are you ok? He had a 114 wRC+ with zero power to speak of. There was no improvement from previous seasons.
  7. You're really underrating the importance of having an elite defensive outfielder. What's more important, Kiermaier gets injured, Varsho offers such an excellent replacement to CF that the defense doesn't suffer much.
  8. Lol where do people get this idea that Gurriel has considerable value?
  9. Varsho has shown to be an excellent defensive OF, Moreno hasn't.
  10. This is almost the opposite of a typical Atkins deal: In a vacuum, it's a really steep price to pay for Varsho. But in the context of the lineup and defense, it makes some more sense. The Jays have almost an elite defensive lineup aside from SS.
  11. There's some promise that he has an above average barrell rate, but the plate discipline....needs a lot of work.
  12. That's a fair point, you worded it better that the Rangers could afford to give him a longer rope if he under produces, whereas the Jays can't afford to, or may be more risk averse.
  13. I would say that's fairly different. Texas has much larger glaring OF holes than Toronto. Texas can practically guarantee Conforto full playing time. Unlike in Toronto, he may be relegated to the strong side of a platoon and/or DH. If Conforto is looking to bet on himself for a larger contract, it's probably in his best interest to sign with the Rangers. The only way I see Toronto signing him is if they offer him a substantially larger contract than the Rangers. Something which I can't see them doing.
  14. Probably. I'd imagine they'd find someone with compatible splits against LHP. Pretty much takes them out of Brantley and Conforto, they're likely looking for primary/starter roles.
  15. I'm liking KK more and more
  16. Garrett Cooper belongs to J4L19.
  17. His raw velo, fastball values and spin rates are pretty mediocre. I think that's where the zero stuff belief comes from.
  18. Isn't Mike Zunino still unsigned?
  19. When I first saw the deal I was unenthused like you were. I too had to quickly re-calibrate my head how insane the market has been this year and how much sense this signing makes. This is the steroid era of offseason deals!
