  1. Man, Aaron Sanchez is one ugly dude. Maybe it's just the hat.
  2. But Robertson had control problems before as well? He still pitched pretty good when he was walking 4+/9 too.
  3. I don't know either, I guess the love for Pentecost comes from the fact that he's a good defensive catcher and should be able to hit rather well. As for the pretty bad; I guess you're right...100 wRC+ is pretty bad, but hey, small sample size right?
  4. For next year, I would bet that Melky is a better hitter than saunders. However, Melky is a few years older and is kinda fat, if he's looking for a 5+ year deal then I don't trust his body to hold up well on the latter half of the contract. Saunders, while an injury risk, is at least an athletic player and much cheaper. There stands to reason that in a couple years that Saunders will be a better player than Melky, let alone worth more value if Saunders makes say 2.9 million this year and progresses to 5 million before he hits free agency. Plus he's Canadian, that adds an automatic 2 WAR on PR.
  5. I went there a month ago for the first time in a year just to see what happened over there...I thought the patients from the mental health ward managed to login to the computers.
  6. If the Yankees were dumn and wanted to trade away their future, they have a lot of valuable prospect pieces to deal for bats. A package of say Severino and Judge could land quite a haul. (but still dumn)
  7. I know that guys like Nox, Boxy, NJH and Hurl all didn't like the Marlins deal at the time. I thought they had a shot, but there were ifs, and that the Jays' situation could become messy, but I still thought AA was a good GM at the time, so eh... Although Dinger and probably queen-BTS were blowing their loads, those shameless pugs. It'd be great if someone could pull up that thread from the old board. f***, there's a lot of hipster-ness in this thread.
  8. One of the instances where he valued clubhouse presents over analytics.
  9. I'm actually gona give AA the benefit of the doubt on this move somewhat, I don't even think the Indians saw that Gones would be this good, they primarily got him for his defensive versatility most likely. But trading away a utility player for a mediocre bullpen arm is still pretty bad.
  10. He also gave 5 million to francisco shown a disregard for advanced metrics when he traded away a good defensive catcher in Kratz, and could've gotten a much better player(s) for the prospects he gave up, players he could've gotten in free agency. A bunch of small moves that add up and show he's not completely saavy as a GM. Then again, with his roller coaster tenure, I really don't know what to think of him, maybe those moves were a result of higher influences than him, or like NJH said, learning from dumn mistakes. But I wouldn't refer to him as a top 5 GM at this pointthere's still lots of room error, although his offseason thus far has been incredible.
  11. The Jays already do that when they have a low attendence, granted, it's only temporary. But why restrict the amount of available seats for every single home game that project to sell high?
  12. You probably woke them right up again didn't you?
  13. I heard JP Arencibia's really gonna be good this year. He told me so.
  14. No King, this is who they should be going after
  15. Agreed regarding him starting, I would like to see him either given a chance to start though, when someone gets injured, or try him as a long man to see how he deals with multiple innings.
  16. 11:59 tonight.
  17. The fact that he said that Melky played as an above average hitter in 2013 even when he wasn't was what was nuts. He probably shouldn't of even played in 2013 anyway, considering he was a below replacement player. In no way was he above average. And if you're gonna retort to me that Melky is now a much better option is also bull, the money he's gonna want from the Jays is gonna drain resources that would be much better spent on a 2B or a good starter. Saunders is a great option who's almost as good as Cabrera and who'd be much cheaper and on the right side of 30. Plus, if/when Melky signs with another team, they get back a 1st round pick providing even extra value. It's not hard to figure out.
  18. Apparently Beachy was non-tendered as well. Jesus Christ if the Jays land him, I might actually cry.
  19. I wonder if ones sexuality has an impact at all on umpiring skills, I mean...you gotta be really close to some of those guys to accurately call a play and it might be distracting. It's that human factor. Can't wait until he has to cross paths with Torri Hunter now
  20. Who gives a s***? The topic being discussed was that Melky had a season where he was a below average hitter in the past 3 years, injury or not. Even during the time where Saunders was injured in the 3 year sample he was at the very least an average hitter, so your personal tirade doesn't matter.
  21. Right, with that said, I'm hearing a lot of Maicer is starting 2B for the Jays next year, do people forget that in worst case scenario and the Jays get no 2B this winter, that Travis should be a capable 2B? I'd much rather wheel out Travis than Mouser, I don't care that he's making 2.6 M more. Also, since I'm late to the party: f*** yeah the Jays got Donaldson!
