  1. Porcello would be my preference. As a #4 he wouldn't be a bad option. I just can't see AA settling on a guy like Porcello however, unless he can also land a bigger arm as well. Realustically, we need a #2 quality guy and a #4. If Porcello is the #4 that's not bad at all.
  2. AA is going to completely blow the farm to get what he wants. Let's face it, it's probably more likely he does that than making minor trades for marginal upgrades. It's his last chance and he will go all in.
  3. Not really, we're talking about AA. He probably wants to find a guy to replace Oliver and feels the 10 other viable options we already have is not sufficient.
  4. This team needs more Durability. If were going to go this route, then AA better sure as f*** bring in another arm that has a good health track record.
  5. It's possible Ken, but I really think the money will be there, especially with all that added revenue all the teams will get. Rogers will look at what makes them more money next year and winning will do that. This team still has tremendous growth potential at the gates and a $25M increase and some more star drawing power will only help that cause. This is do or die here and this team is a mess. One more shot is all AA will get and unless he is confident he can move substantial payroll, he is going to be pleading for a significant payroll bump.
  6. I used $150M for the offseason roster thread since I feel it's a safe bet, but I really think it hits closer to $160M. AA and Beeston are going to try and sell the notion that they are close to contention and I really believe Rogers anti's up. They went in so deep in one winter that I just can't see them backpedaling just yet. This is it for AA and he knows it.
  7. If JP is back next season as the starting catcher this team might as well just concede the season. Changes need to be made and JP tops that list. If not then its time to clean house. No one will trade for him, I just can't see it at this point. Time to cut ties.
  8. I would like to think he will address the catching situation and quite frankly expect it to happen if he is serious about this team contending. If not then his days are numbered.
  9. Pretty much anyone would be an improvement. Hopefully this is addressed in the winter otherwise any other efforts to improve the team may very well be pointless.
  10. Maybe he has a fetish for team friendly contracts.
  11. Or he could have just f***ed his arm. Regressing is one thing, but regressing from the level of an average joe pitching in the bigs is another. JJ has been worse than my wettest fart this year.
  12. Jay, when did he actually come out and say this specifically? I don't ever recall him doing so. Maybe indirectly, but not directly.
  13. He is a good candidate to buy low on. Not $14M+, but maybe $5M plus incentives and a couple significant team options at 10M+. Not bad if that is the case, but then were competing against several teams at that point.
  14. And they will cash in big.
  15. If the Jays don't offer a QO then sure, but why would he want to come back at that point? I am sure several teams will offer him team friendly deals in locations he would much rather play in.
  16. Its probably a long shot at this point and rightfully so. Time to move on......
  17. He is a solid #5 on a f***ed up team and luckily we fit that criteria.
  18. Perez is older than dirt. I respect your opinion Ken but you can't be serious? Nolin might be a mid rotation guy at best but the reality is he will struggle to be a long man. That's the likely scenerio.
  19. Yeah probably. Obviously a #2 type would be better, I highly doubt we get a legit ace. This team will need to be built around strong depth in the rotation and pen and an upgrade at 2B would go a long way. The depth in the minors for the rotation should be solid with Hutch, Stroman and Nolin, as well as Rogers likely starting off the year in the pen. If AA can bring in a legit SP and upgrade 2B, this team will at least have a chance, even if it isn't a great one.
  20. Time will tell. AA has to fix this mess in the winter or it could get real ugly. He needs to find a couple upgrades in the winter and we probably need one of Stroman, Nolin or Hutch to step up big next year and run with a rotation spot when injuries hit. If AA can deal off some of the excess BP depth, sign Rasmus to a team friendly extension (which I think is likely), cut some of the excess like Boni, and plug the hole we have at 2B and address the rotation with another #3 or better, this team could be pretty decent.
  21. I could see AA go after a 2B upgrade and another #3 or better SP. I think he rolls with Cabrera as the LF next season unless they don't think he will be healthy by then. JPA probably sticks around as well. Izturis moves to the bench and Rogers moves to the pen and that is probably the team. Maybe a couple relievers get traded as well.
  22. It's funny how many people were so adamant that there is no more money, or that we would only barely increase payroll. That roughly $25M per team in added revenue alone should have been a reasonable indication as well as the fact that when AA made those deals last winter they knew what they were getting with some of those contracts. I think were closer to $150M by the time spring training hits.
  23. It's amazing how stupid some people are for dumping on AA for a pretty obvious move.
