  1. If Doc came it at JA Happ type of money or less then I'd consider rolling the dice and then flipping Happ as a payroll dump. That being said if Halladay is the best we can do then what's the point.
  2. For that reason and the fact that Stroman is closer to the bigs I would much rather move Sanchez if one of them has to go.
  3. Ubaldo is going to get 5 years and probably 15-18M per year. Arroyo probably gets 3 years from someone. I do like the idea of signing Infante and trading for Hanigan though. If Ubaldo can be had on a 4 year deal closer to 15 per I would do that too.
  4. It's extremely impressive. I don't think anyone could have reasonably expected this much attention in the first few months let alone the first week.
  5. Smart move making the offer public. Now he has to accept.
  6. The points are valid. Odds are Sanchez may never be as good as Samardzija. I'd much rather hold onto Hutch and Stroman and I know I'm in the minority on that, but Hutch showed glimpses of what he could do at the major league level and Stroman may be ready now to contribute and that holds a lot of weight.
  7. I agree, the key is knowing which guys to move and when. Right now Bautista should be moved. He is getting up there in age yet still has a ton of value, it's only going to go down from here.
  8. Well then he really f***ed up not signing Jose Molina.
  9. I'm fine giving up Sanchez for Bailey with an extension. I think he would do fine in the ALE.
  10. I wouldn't move Rasmus but that's just me. I'd much rather extend him and have him as one of our core pieces along with Lawrie. This team is already old, I don't want to unload the few young established guys we have like Rasmus. I would do something like Sanchez, Gose, Cecil, Nolin and Dean. Or something along those lines with a window to extend Bailey. It gets us pieces we need now and we still have key guys in Stroman and Hutch as depth along with a wildcard like Drabek. I could live with that.
  11. I'm hoping he can land Nolasco on a 4 year deal. Getting another guy who is a reasonable bet for 200 innings makes gambling on Morrow less risky. Nolasco might not be anything special but he gives us a chance to win some games and I am fairly optimistic about our offence.
  12. This is really sad. JP is probably laughing his ass off.
  13. Money is also an asset. If we get stuck with several horrendous contracts, we're going to then have to pray Sanchez works out which is no sure thing.
  14. Dire is exactly what it is. I'm guessing it's either him or Navarro at this point.
  15. I'd guess around 5/75 at least, probably ends up at 5/80. If it were a 4 year deal I'd probably go with him over Nolasco, but I want as short a deal as possible and now that several short term options are off the board, it's looking more and more like AA is either going to blow up the farm or sign an ill advised contract.
  16. The likely contract he gets is probably the biggest deterrent.
  17. Problem is AA probably never considers that. I can see Nolasco being high on his radar considering he could probably land him for 4/60 and that has to be more attractive than what Ubaldo or Santana will get.
  18. He's not my first choice coming into the winter, but he certainly would help stabilize this rotation. Fact is we need guys who can give us innings and Nolasco can do that. He is a solid mid rotation option and would need to be complimented by another upgrade to the rotation.
  19. I'm not opposed to Navarro. I am not a huge fan of his but at this point he may be the most reasonable option on the FA market. At worst case he comes in and provides zero WAR and still is an improvement over JP. Steamer has him at 1.6 WAR next season.
  20. As opposed to emptying the farm? Harden wasn't going to come here anyways, but this is exactly the type of target AA should be on. Nolasco would be ideal.
  21. Likely they ask for Gose as well or something along those lines. No way Stroman or Sanchez are involved in a deal for Phillips when they need to dump his salary and every team in the league knows it.
  22. Phillips/Hanigan for Nolin, Cecil and a lesser prospect.
  23. Yup. Nolasco on a 4 year deal would be nice.
