  1. How do you know she didn't? More likely she said take the biggest contract.
  2. I still think we see an addition to the rotation. May not end up being as good of an upgrade as many of us hoped, but I do think we will at least get one more arm. Whether that ends up being a guy like Ubaldo or someone much less coveted like Maholm, I think something will happen. The trade market will have to give at some point as well and AA could be involved on that as well. Once Tanaka is resolved, the market should pickup once again.
  3. Ken, I get what your saying, but I still think he is a 200 innings guy. That being said, with the pen we have we probably could shorten his starts, but with Dickey as the only other realistic 200 innings guy, we really can't afford to tax the pen like that. If another 200 innings guy is brought in then I think that changes things a bit, but at the same time I'm not messing with what works for Buehrle unless he proves he can't pitch those innings. He at least deserves a leash in that regard because he was one of our better starters last season and likely will be again this year. The real problem right now is we need one more guy we can count on in the rotation to allow Gibbons to utilize the pen more effectively.
  4. Not sure I agree with this. Buehrle has been about as consistent as it gets in terms of durability and innings. Until he proves otherwise, I don't see why he won't have another 200 inning season barring injury. Weren't you dumping on him last winter too saying Romero would be better? I don't get why people like to sell him so short sometimes.
  5. Morrow likely won't be unless he is healthy and is visibly showing tiredness in the second half, then they may have to shorten it up a bit. As for McGowan, I doubt there would be. He will be 32, and AT&T his point if he gives this team a full season and never pitches again it's probably a win. Hutch probably is on one, no need to push him too hard just yet with all the back end options we have.
  6. The plot thickens.
  7. RIP Ace.
  8. I never expected us to get Tanaka and even stated that I prefer going after other FA options that won't cost nearly as much, but it's quite surprising that a formal offer wasn't even submitted if true. Either AA expects to sign/trade for an arm or we have no more money,
  9. Exactly what I was thinking. These write ups are for the masses not a small niche.
  10. What happens if said player suffers a career threatening injury shortly after meeting the criteria for the option to qualify? A 1 year option, sure, several 1 year options all kicking in one year after the other, sure, but when your suggesting a 7 year option all kicking in at once, there is something really wrong with that type of structure. Not to mention the fact that you want this option to kick in when he turns 32 and is either already declining or about to decline.
  11. Agreed. This is complete BS.
  12. When you add a 7 year option, yes.
  13. Not really. Either they set some standard rules or they stop pulling BS out of their asses.
  14. Unless those fans have a workplace drug test policy, it's not the same thing.
  15. No worries, thanks for trying though, I appreciate it.
  16. I hope we can extract some value here but I doubt we do. No harm though I guess.
  17. Can you send it to me or post it in the Fantasy Challenge Dynasty League? It would be much appreciated if you did.
  18. But in all seriousness, do you really think he is overpaid compared to what slightly better alternatives are getting?
  19. Not great, but a healthy season can change things rather quickly. Not to mention that he can be traded and his contract may be attractive to several teams.
  20. Ken, I think your being a bit harsh. Melky has a track record and his injures lead me to believe he will be better. Happ is decent and that is all we can ask, if we're asking for more than we don't deserve to even be considered a contender if we are even that. Finally, Navarro was better than JP in 2013. He might not be anything special, but his most recent performance suggests he is an upgrade. As for Goins, who knows, lol.
  21. Happ was solid last season. He got hurt and that didn't help his cause, but he is a solid option. As for upside, he doesn't need to have crazy upside if he can do the job we need him too, anything else is a bonus. If he gets hurt again, we have the depth to follow, but get rid of him and that depth is deluded and so are our chances.
