    For the benefit of those not participating in today's GDT In 2010 for the Mets, in 61 PA , RA Dickey hit .255/.296/.294 Thole is marginally better than that this year, but Dickey 2010 batting is better than 2 of Thole's 6 batting seasons

    Let me say this. I think AA is probably very smart man, who perhaps doesn't entirely understand enough about baseball to run a team well.

    However, it is still very hard to start playback of an archived game without caching a glimpse of the final score. Unless I'm missing a trick.

    No. But part of the problem is I can't tell because Beeston is so distasteful to me and the extent of his influence is not entirely clear. I (perhaps foolishly) hold out a small bit of hope that he is still a competent GM at his core.

    Who knows. Give AA 2-3 more years with no Beeston vetoing him, and an actual set budget and I think he just might figure it out.

    I also like it for the audio. Biking, walking dog, mowing lawn, out in car I end up listening rather than watching quite often. It's why I've become a big Joe Siddall fan.

    Will try to find previous threads on this In short it's fantastic. Best deal in sports as it costs like 1/4 of what the NFL charges Quality is fantastic and you can watch on your phone, tablet, computer or XBOX. And they no longer black out Jays games for people.located in Canada. They used to.

    If they plan on Pillar being anything more than a 4th OF and see Valencia as their every day 3B, we might as well just tear the whole thing down in December

    Though as we know it's more about plays made Reyes just can't get to enough balls and still makes throwing errors. Lawrie OTOH gets to everything, then occasionally makes throwing errors. I would prefer that.

    That seems about right. If push came to shove I'd begrudgingly give him a 4th year if that was required to keep him. He may up as a DH by then though.

    I'll take 430 foot home runs with good OBP skills over 500 foot home runs with none

    He killed that 9% above average bat with his defense. And he's a platoon bat only. For the money he wasn't terrible but we're better off keeping Lind who is a better all around hitter even with less power.

    Hitting 500 foot home runs is how he became a major leaguer. It's his only skill.

    I was under the false impression that Jeter was still making 20M a season but he's not. His last contract was front loaded and they "only" paid him 12M this year. Even for the Yankees, tossing in an extra 10M for Reyes is likely not appealing, especially since they have to start paying ARod again next year.

    Dammit I'd love to trade Reyes to the Yankees They have a gaping iconic hole at short stop next year, they dont seem to care that much about infield defense, and they have essentially limitless money. But then we need even more infielders and we seem have trouble finding even one.

    Also there may come a time where he just doesn't feel like doing it any more, even if he still can. These guys with long careers often seem to just tire of it after a while. There's nothing he hasn't accomplished. WS title, perfect game, no hitter. He's made a boatload of money. One off season he may just say "that's enough" and retire and focus on volunteer work and stuff. He seems like that kind of guy.
