  2. Just finished reading though. He's been mostly playing at DH. Is he even a legit 2B option any more???
  3. Please please please for once land a solid international FA player We just so happen to desperately need a MIF
  4. I suppose though - Pompey will have a month in the AFL and a month of spring training. He does have a real chance of impressing enough to win a job out of spring training. The only thing I don't want to see is AA letting Colby and Melky both walk and feel like he has enough outfielders without them. That would be very dangerous. I still want Melky retained.
  5. Well I've just about given up on Gose improving his hitting. In 200 major league games over 3 seasons he owns a .233/.301/.330 slash line and nothing I see suggests to me he's going to hit any better than that. A .300 OBP for a speed guy with zero power just isn't very good. The defense is so good that I could live with that hitting if he doesn't face lefties but yes, I'd rather have a more well rounded player at such an important position. Pillar isn't particularily fast, nor a great defender, and he has very little power too. I think he's a good AAAA backup. But yeah I can see the OF for most of next year being Melky, Gose, Pompey, Bautista
  6. So, at risk of SSS over reaction, Pompey looks like he has the potential to be a more well rounded player than Gose (3 tool player who can't hit) and a higher ceiling than Pillar (who seems to have no above average tools at all) That said he likely starts 2015 in Buffalo, but has Pompey already passed Pillar on the depth chart? It's tough because the SSS doesn't just apply to the majors, but at every level of the minors since he never stayed at one level more than a couple of months. We have full seasons of minor league hitting info on Gose and Pillar. Pompey kept hitting at every level, with power, on his way up. And the eye test is favorable - more power than Pillar, better plate coverage than Gose (faint praise I suppose, is there anyone with worse plate coverage than Gose?). Still need to temper expectations but... I'm excited to see what he can do and am glad they didn't trade him.
  7. How is he qualified??

  9. So... Buck isn't becoming team president then?
  10. What sucks of course, is that if we'd won 3-4 more games in August/Sept, this would have been very exciting right now... Even if ultimately Baltimore smacked us down again this weekend and eliminated us.
  11. Have not watched much Have the Jays played really well or have the Mariners just sucked??
  12. FTR, I love prospects who zoom to prominence out of nowhere. Conversely, I'm a bit tired of top 100 prospects who bust.
  13. He will be given the chance to win a spot in spring training. He should probably play in the AFL in the meantime. ST 2015 he has a shot at making it as starting CF or 4th OF (if Melky is retained) or LF (if Melky is not). However, more likely he starts the year in AAA.
  14. My guess? LOOGY for the Round Rock Express
  15. Poll: What will Ricky Romero be doing, and where, in 2016?
  16. So... Kemp for LF??
  17. Fix the turf! Make this new turf with a massive Tampa style dirt cutout. (f*** the Argos I don't care) Move Reyes to 2B Trade for a quality shortstop or buy one on the international market (There are Cuban infielders defecting at an alarming rate, almost as if living in Cuba sucks or something) Sanchez to the rotation Keep Melky Replace Thole with the Greek Navarro catches 3/5 days instead of 4/5 and is DH vs LHP Morrow 4.5M closer The playoffs will be f***ing simple to make
  18. Sigh... Thanks for reminding us. He'll be 6 million dollars better next year, right? Right???
  19. We don't need (or at least shouldn't need) to move salary in order to keep Melky. He's at 8M going to 13-15. Rasmus and his 7M are gone. Likely replaced by 2 guys making 1M combined (2/3 of Gose Pompey Pillar) Any money saved should be for a legit controllable 2B.
  20. And the other thing
  21. That's incredible During a hitters dominated era in the sport, no less
  22. We have just been informed that Mark Buerhle is awesome We should provably keep him
