  1. Buck isn't going anywhere but they should replace Tabby with Joe Siddall
  2. Thread degenerated badly, so closed
  3. Bench looks good But it's the BP that really needed help and these are all wildcards
  4. I know I mean the injury/surgery/release all sucks for us and him but releasing was obviously the right thing to do right now.
  5. I'll change the thread title once all the callups are confirmed
  6. Now I actually want to watch some games again
  7. That sucks. For him and the Jays. We've been missing the good right handers late in the game. Before Sanchez came up, Gibby really didn't have any righty that had been steady. We could have really used Wagner next year when Sanchez is starting, Janssen likely gone and Delabar/Santos likely MIA.
  8. Mike and Mike on ESPN this morning brought up two fascinating tidbits of baseball history this morning in light of the Phillies combined no hitter and Adam Dumn hitting a HR in his first at bat for the A's The first combined no hitter in MLB history? 1917. Babe Ruth was 22 years old, started a game for the Red Sox. He walked the first batter, then got ejected from the game, and someone else came in an retired the next 26 batters in route to a team no hitter. Ruth didn't record a single out. Three other players in MLB history with > 450 career HR got traded and hit a HR in their first at bat for their new team. Who? Babe Ruth, Willie Mays and Frank Robinson.
  9. Plus he already was on a World Series winning team right? One more post season run with Oakland and hang it up. Why not
  10. Does he have any options left??? He'd be great in Buffalo as depth next year but I'm guessing we got him cheap because the Phillies has used them all up? Edit: He is out of options http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/03/out-of-options-2014.html
  11. LOL He made *112 MILLLION* dollars playing a game he purportedly doesn't even like. And can retire at age 35 with decades of the good life in front of him. Why not?
  12. Yet neither off day I guess we had been due for several since we had played more games than just about everybody Sigh. If we were legitimately in to playoff race is might have been beneficial, but...
  13. This is what happens when your mods are almost all dirty/horny guys over age 35/40/50 s***, we might as well just make Spanky a mod now to complete the deal. LOL
  14. Cue AA trading Sanchez and Pompey for him in 3.. 2.. J/K
  15. The Tigers would probably prefer if Justin Verlander was focusing on pitching better right now
  16. Oh she's absolutely beautiful, just doesn't have the model body any more/right now I was never a huge Jennifer Lawrence fan but she is def growing on me
  17. Has anyone mentioned Delabar? Would be sort of sad (but possibly appropriate) if guys like Deabek and Norris are up here for September but Delabar is done for the year
  18. Gardner a single away from the cycle Rasmus a strikeout away from a golden sombrero
  19. It's a lot nicer here from May-Sept than it is in Houston
  20. Exactly. Little else matters. Just let the players decide on the lineup each day, make sure everyone gets to hit leadoff at some point, and whichever reliever thinks "I can get this next guy out" can just run out on to the mound and take over.
  21. "Foreign country" and "higher taxes" get thrown around by Jays apologists as reasons some free agents don't want to come here. (same goes for guys who block trades). As we know, Canada isn't that foreign and it's been shown that Canada/Ontario taxes are not the highest in MLB. More like 8th highest out of 30 teams IIRC. Plus, that gets watered down by being taxed everywhere you travel (This was discussed at length during the RA Dickey extension talks) Bottom line, most realists think that 20 years of losing is the biggest problem. Not the thought of living in Canada for 85 or so days a year or paying higher taxes than you would in Florida. The problem isn't unique to us. Guys don't want to sign with perennial losers like Minnesota or Houston either.
