    Makes you wonder if he is confident he can land McCarthy, Liriano or equivalent. Cause no way he's in on Lester or Scherzer and not *all* that likely on Shields although it's possible. One of those earlier guys on a short deal would be phenomenal and we added a LF on the cheap to replace Melky.

    Getting Josh Donaldson was like the Christmas present so f'n good that you don't even ask for it cause you don't think you'd ever ever get it and you don't want to be disappointed. LOL

    Yeah winter meetings are fun Though less so when every other team is making stuff happen and we aren't That said I do like how AA tries to get some stuff done before the winter meetings start. Some years he does, some years he doesn't of course. This year he sure has.

    I'd be happy if he gets one deal pulled off next week - SP, RP or 2B Relievers can be bought at a later date and he won't be bidding on the biggest money/name guys anyway so I'd like the focus to be on SP and 2B.

    Same. I'm probably good with Goins/Izturis/Travis for 2B if we added a starter and shored up the pen. Adding a starter like McCarthy would also allow Sanchez to start the year in Buffalo or in the pen, both preferable to having him in the starting rotation to start the year IYAM.

They landed Josh Donaldson (7.4 WAR) in a trade with the A's, and they added Russell Martin (5.5) through free agency. They also pulled off a trade with the Mariners Wednesday night, adding a win by shipping J.A. Happ (1.4) to Seattle for Michael Saunders (2.4). But the Blue Jays' sky-high WAR among the players they've added is almost certainly set to drop a bit. Assuming they traded for Saunders because they are conceding that Melky Cabrera and Colby Rasmus will be headed elsewhere, their WAR will decline by four when the outfield pair officially depart. Toronto may also lose closer Casey Janssen, and for as much as they've added in terms of offense, it was the pitching staff -- with an ERA of 4.00 -- that was their biggest downfall last year.

    How much will Liriano get? He turned down a QO so he's compensated but he'd only cost us the second rounder now. Seems like an intriguing target.

    I agree. Zero chance on Lester I am very intrigued though that AA said SP agents were calling him saying their clients were suddenly interested after Russell Martin was acquired.
