  1. Similar yes. Not sure either team really wanted the offers to get accepted. Probably not. One major difference: Orioles payroll 116M Astros payroll 69M
  2. True And I'm in favour of offering it. I think it's a risk worth taking as I said earlier I was just opposed to the "planning on 3 draft picks" plan
  3. That ended up consuming 23.7% of the Astros payroll for this year and he has barely put up 1 WAR Teams must be starting to get nervous about making these offers for the second tier players
  4. The problem is you can't guarantee Saunders will turn it down
  5. That's the tricky thing. You're not dealing with them one at a time in the order you want to You're juggling all if them at once
  6. Saunders now has "All Star" on his resume How much is that worth in the eyes of GM's?
  7. After thinking it over, I have no problem with all 3 being given the QO There's only a risk with Saunders and it's probably worth it For Bautista you're OK making the offer because you're not upset if he accepts it. That would be great actually. You hang on to him for another year with a legit chance at contention, and chances are he's worth it even with a modest season. It's less than a 3M increase for him. Then you can go through the same process next year. Edwin clearly won't accept it and will obviously get better offers from the Jays and others, so you're either keeping him for several years or collecting a draft pick. Saunders is exactly the type/caliber of player who is most constrained by the QO and it's probably worth making the offer, hoping to either collect a draft pick or get him on a cheaper 2 year deal or something. It's *probably* worth the risk for a team with a decent budget like the Jays have.
  8. How about 2 years 24M for Saunders Gives him more than the QO but less per year but 2 years of security. Players frequently will accept lower AAV for longer terms, and most of them probably hate 1 year deals Crazy to think 1/3 of the way through the season that would have seemed laughable. That he'd get 4 or more years at 15M. I don't think so now.
  9. Exactly right Prices fluctuate wildly
  10. Barker is nearly incomprehensible sometimes
  11. Most frustrating game in a while Bbaaaahhhhhhhh
  12. Travis is who I want most vs Bettances Is that weird??
  13. Bettances might be scarier than Chapman
  14. I know I was feeling despondent for a second
