  1. Lets cheer for a typical "Mets" season where it all goes wrong in many ways and he wants no part of staying Except then I'm worried the Yankees might get him
  2. Trevor Story and a front line starter please
  3. Are teams just being cheap? Sugano and Tanaka were both so unimpressed with their offers that they wouldn't sign with a major league team at all
  4. The Marlins have traded right-hander Jordan Yamamoto to the Mets in exchange for minor league infielder Federico Polanco, the Mets announced Monday. In order to open a spot on the 40-man roster, the Mets have designated infielder Robel Garcia for assignment. Yamamoto was designated for assignment last week when Miami inked reliever Anthony Bass to a two-year contract.
  5. I still can't believe the Nationals actually did that with Strasburg many years ago Good thing they eventually got themselves a WS with him still there
  6. Rose is just kind of pathetic now which is sad cause he was a great F'n player I met him once in a Las Vegas shopping mall trying to sell autographed baseballs at a table for 10 bucks or something A buddy of mine once saw him in Las Vegas (hmmm common theme here) at a high end steakhouse bar. A World Series game was happening that evening but the bar TVs were all set to college basketball. When my friend asked them to turn one TV to baseball he was told that Mr. Rose had requested to not have it on while he was there. I told my friend he should have asked him how much he had riding on the college basketball game.
  7. It's crazy to think that the baseball HOF possibly might never include the all time hits leader or the all time home run leader. I get it with Rose in particular but it just seems so odd ...
  8. Had to trade away some payroll since they couldn't get plan A to work (Trying to convince Trey Mancini to defer a sizeable chunk of his hard earned salary after coming back from battling cancer... LOL)
  9. Solid career for Pedroia I always had an admittedly irrational dislike for him Probably would have loved him if he'd played second base for the Jays
  10. This year's cover
  11. Yeai have a way bigger problem with the opt outs than with the concept of a no trade clause
  12. These opt outs are crippling I'll bet all teams learn from this and they become less popular
  13. It's so egregiously bad I actually hope it's not as simple as that Refused to trade him in division to the Dodgers even though they were supposedly offering a better return. Why the f*** not? You're not competitive with the Dodgers any time soon with or without Arenado
  14. Especially in a situation like this where you're giving a massive contract extension to a player already under control A full no trade cause and crippling opt outs? Why??
  15. Exactly that I was thinking Or the Reds could do something similar
  16. Also Larry Walker who left late (only played two more years)
  17. Yes They added quite a few potentials already. Some for sure relived some on mIlb contracts with a chance to make the MLB bullpen Archie Bradley Matt Moore Ivan Nova Jose Alvarado Sam Coonrod
  18. The Mets always find a way to make things interesting...
  19. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/l/lemahdj01.shtml
  20. There's also the fact they were after Semien (and probably Turner) so it may have just been a timing thing Quite possible the Jays were working on multiple possible deals and were able to get Semien to sign before they could reach a possible deal with the Rockies for Arenado Also possible they just preferred a shorter term contract
  21. OK so the Cardinals are probably the best team in the NL Central now? Does that motivate the Cubs to add? Or to throw in the towel for real and start dealing more of their trade chips?
  22. Yeah. It always felt like they wanted to get rid of his contract almost immediately after signing it.
  23. Tha Yankees are aquiring high risk / gamble SPs too but they (Taillon and Kluber) have higher upside
