The Orioles are closing in on agreement with infielder Rougned Odor, reports Dan Connolly of the Athletic (Twitter links). Odor was recently released by the Yankees. Once finalized, it’ll be a one-year major league contract.
MLB radio this morning
FWIW a former GM with "sources" said:
The Jays had Ray and Gausman as equals in desirability and were negotiating with both concurrently
Jays offered Ray 5/110
Ray WAS interested in staying but they wanted to continue to meet with other teams
Ray's agent told the Jays they weren't rushing to sign and still had to meet with other teams including the Angels
Meanwhile Gausman and his agent wanted to sign before the CBA expired and were willing to take 5/110 from the Jays so they all agreed
Ray then got an offer for 5M more from Seattle, knew the Jays were out and decided to take Seattle's offer and not wait around any longer
So yeah a bit like EE/Morales if this is all true
I asked this question before and nobody answered
How much credit (if any) does Charlie Montoyo deserve for the current clubhouse/dugout atmosphere? And has that helped with recruitment?
Is the FO just bringing in quality guys who are good team mates? Or does Charlie do things throughout the season that helps?
Like most I think he's a pretty bad in-game manager but they seem to love playing for him.
We're not only signing and extending top notch players now but sometimes it's even at a discount.
Does Charlie deserve some credit or no? Or is it impossible to tell?
I like the lotto for the NBA
Some years there's a Lebron and little else and you don't want teams trying to sink to last place to guarantee they get him
In baseball there's usually more to pick from and harder to project who might be a superstar years down the road.
