  1. I can see that thought process affecting voters on ARod. Actually suspended by MLB is prob the worst PED optic But what about Clemens?
  2. That's just it ARod and Clemens are easy Hall of Famers by the numbers. How can you say only Bonds get in of the 3?
  3. The Mets don't have a single left handed pitcher on their 26 man roster
  4. And I am now following Manoah on Twitter
  5. The douchebaggery continues unabated
  6. Masahiro Tanaka could have opted out of his contract in Japan to play in MLB but chose to stay there Tanaka’s comeback season in NPB went well, as he posted a 3.01 ERA with a 20.19% strikeout rate and a 4.65% walk rate over 155 2/3 innings with the Eagles
  7. This just furthers my feelings that the big league club needs a solid, established 3B on a short contract while we let Biggio play 2B and let those 3 sort themselves out in the minors
  8. And it presumably would have taken more to actually get him away from them
  9. Yes. A free agent on a short contract or a trade for someone on an expiring contract with 1-2 years left.
  10. So Taylor got a 60M guarantee I can see why the Jays didn't try to outbid the Dodgers in the end
  11. DECEMBER 2: The Associated Press reports the specific breakdown on Chris Taylor’s contract. He’ll be paid $15MM salaries in each of the next two seasons, followed by successive $13MM guarantees in 2024-25. He’s also guaranteed at least a $4MM buyout on the 2026 option, which is valued at $12MM.
  12. Isn't Groshans expected to stick at 3B though?
  13. No team has ever lamented having too many good staring pitchers at the trade deadline
  14. If I'm the Jays I still HOPE that Pearson becomes a solid SP But I'm not counting on it and I'm going into this season presuming that he WON'T be and making roster decisions accordingly
  15. Agreed on all counts A trade or FA singing of someone who can play 2B/3B seems smart and I fully expect them to do exactly this
  16. I can't see them spending big $ on another SP. And there aren't many big $ free agent SPs left anyway. They'll probably find someone on a low cost 1 year deal, or work out a trade instead to add a 5th dependable starter. They are probably willing to spend for an infielder and another strong BP arm.
  17. IKWYM. But Tampa and Oakland don't have budgets allowing them to push payroll to 140-180M during competitive windows. We do.
  18. All the same things I was thinking This deal would have made more sense for the Mets
  19. Other than having to play for a suddenly very s***** Cubs team
