We really don't have any "holes" on the position player side And we have lots of guys who can play multiple positions
If you want to add to the lineup then yes you have to trade for a superstar. That just seems less likely than sticking with the player position core we have and solidifying the starting rotation and back end of the bullpen.
Most superstar players are currently either on contending teams that would never trade them (Judge, Ohtani, etc), or are young and under cheap team control for many years so they don't want to trade them either.
