    101 wRC+ and 0.9 fWAR so far this year I mean he'll have better seasons than that but they're paying him like the perennial 4-5 WAR player he used to be and he might never be that again.

    It's a good thing Atkins nailed the free agent signings this off season. (Keep in mind they were also all in on Kyle Tucker) The core from last year has been mostly mid to s*** or MIA.

    In theory what happens in a doomsday scenario where 2027 is completely canceled (I honestly don't think that will happen but nobody knows for sure) Do the contracts get honored for the year afterwards? Is this something the owners and players association would happen to negotiate? Or do the players just completely lose their salary for next year, get paid out of an emergency fund, and a guy like this is just a free agent like he normally would have been

    It's really important that Atkins knows when he needs to do this, and he proved in 2024 that he did. GM's too optimistic and stubborn to do it hurt their teams badly.
