    Eg. Marcum for Lawrie That's what you do until you're close to contention. Then maybe you overpay for a critical need or two via free agency (preferably) or trade (from depth) AA thought the team was ready for that jump when in reality it wasn't. I still blame a lot of the failure this year for doing NOTHING 2 off seasons ago.
