  1. I think he should just nab Ubaldo Jiminez while everyone else waits for Tanaka and Garza And still try to trade for a top end starter too
  2. He has SAID he is more likely to pursue the trade route. What that means is up for debate.
  3. I am certain that AA is one of them
  4. Back when the Jays signed Navarro, someone in the media (?? One of the Sportsnet guys) commented specifically that Garza loved throwing to Him.
  5. Exactly. You can't take anything of this sort that he says at face value.
  6. Yeah I like the offseason roster thread better. It's become the repository for all (non player specific) general Jays moves talk
  7. "Aw, f*** it! Just sign Cano. We'll figure out the rest later" Right??
  8. Then there is this: A-Rod left the Mariners and they won an AL record 116 games. He left the Rangers and they went from 71 wins to 89. Pujols left the Cardinals and they arguably have been the NL’s best team since. The Red Sox traded Gonzalez and Crawford and became champions. In other words, there is life after abandonment.
  9. Snider: - Strengths: Shirt looks really good when you first get it, and you daydream about it every day as it sits in the drawer, gleaming in your mind much brighter than whatever shlubby garbage you happen to be wearing at the moment. Impressive derp. Pisses Cito Gaston off on sight. Weaknesses: Every time you get excited enough to take it out of the drawer and put it on, it just doesn’t quite fit right. After years of doing this you’ll probably just end up giving it away for nothing. Overall Future Potential: 7; he just needs more time he just needs more time he just needs more time he just needs more time he just… Realistic Role: 4; platoon shirsey at best, and a cautionary tale on rushing shirts out of the drawer.
  10. OMG the McGowan and Romero ones are hilarious Edit: almost all of them are really funny
  11. Halladay jersey "durability" - Risk Factor/Injury History: Eventual; this shirt will be unstoppable for a decade, to the point where you take for granted what an incredible, durable shirt it is. Then one day you’ll take it out of the wash and see a frayed thread. You’ll look a little closer, trying desperately to convince yourself you’re not seeing what you think you’re seeing, while knowing in the back of your mind that it will never be the same again.
  12. From the excellent Cespedes Family BBQ site http://cespedesfamilybarbecue.com/2013/12/07/toronto-blue-jays-top-10-shirseys/
  13. I worry about the offense in this scenario. We're all hoping Melky is better but who knows. And we know Gose can't hit. If I'm trading Lind and moving Melky to DH, I want to know I've got a good bat in LF.
  14. Do the Brewers really want to move Braun? And would his "cost" to acquire in trade really be any lower right now or not.
  15. There is. Who would you replace him with for 7M? Though as I've said many times I could get on board with trading Lind, adding a solid LF bat (Kemp, Braun, Choo) and moving Melky to primary DH and backup OF.
  16. I think I've asked this before but don't remember the answer. Do the Indians still have any rights on Sizemore or is he free to sign with whomever he wants??
  17. Has he said for sure he wants to play next year? If so yeah as part time DH and backup to the oft injured Lawrie? Sweet. But Yanks likely resign for much less $ than he got this year. Edit On second thought I think the Yankees decide to let him go. they have too many other old often injured guys. It burned Cash man badly last year. I expect he's learned from that.
  18. One thing for sure - with Bonifacio and Arencibia both gone there will be fewer holes in the lineup.
