  1. AA is after pitching. Outfielders are easier to come by.
  2. Phew!
  3. Yeah. He's probably our best trade chip still, to any team that at least thinks it's a contender but who is short on OF power. Problem is everyone knows how much time he's missed. But that's OK anyway - if some GM will pay big for him, great. If not, AA doesn't have to trade him. Even a .270 BA, 35 HR Bautista is worth what we're paying him.
  4. I'd pretty much only trade him for a stud pitcher and sign a quality free agent OF.
  5. Give him 3 years instead of 2 if that's the difference maker. Worst case scenario he's an expensive quality backup in year 3.
  6. Because some of them are going to start signing soon??
  7. Agree this particular deal is not happening. However, I previously thought it was very, very unlikely that Bautista gets traded. Now I'm thinking 50/50. I actually do think AA is shopping him to see what he could get. A quality starter and younger OF and he pulls the trigger, sending Bautista and another piece the other way.
  8. Seems likely What a waste of a trade he was. Wow.
  9. Happ, Pillar, Janssen out, good SP in.
  10. Dead weight: DeRosa Arencibia Romero We'll see...
  11. Chisolm, MLB.com: It is early in the process, but Anthopoulos said that the Jays are already having dialogue on both the trade and free-agent fronts. "We need to make the rotation better," he said. "I think that any way we can, we'll look to do that. It could be a trade where one starter is going and another is coming in. If that's one starter, two, three, four -- the likelihood of adding that many, I don't know, but we'll definitely look into it." Anthopoulos told the Toronto Sun that he has been given the green light to spend more than the $119 million that the Jays used on payroll last season, which comes as welcome news.
  12. I'm no MLB scout but both look well received to me.
  13. Sherman: Colorado made a two-year offer with an option believed to be worth roughly $16 million to Carlos Ruiz. But they were told he has a two-year, $20 million deal on the table, which if it is the case means he will not play for the Rockies. Philadelphia wants to retain Ruiz, but several executives believe the Blue Jays could push hard for the veteran.
  14. LOL, enough!
  15. Worth it? Probably. But I didn't think he'd get that much either.
  16. Oh God no, it's two years too late for that
  17. But we get to (presumably) delete JPA and Rajai Davis
  18. Disagree 1M expected arbitration for a 6th starter/long man/swing man? I'll take it. I know you don't like him, but be objective
  19. The lineup and BP are very good That rotation could be good (if we get 2-3 step up performances) or bad again (if we don't or if Buerhle/Garza have mediocre years) Our fortunes in 2014 depend so much on the starting rotation and some luck that it isn't even funny (And there's no guarantee we get a Ruiz and Garza caliber upgrade either) But I agree this team isn't nearly as bad as some on here seem to think it is. As long as AA comes through on at least 2 line items (catcher, mid rotation caliber starter, league average 2B) I like our chances in 2014.
  20. Yes, Wagner and Loup are super cheap, but 1M for McGowan and Rogers and less than 1M for Cecil are all cheap too.
