  1. I think they will gel better than last year More guys happy and healthy to start the season More comfort with each other
  2. I also think Sierra will be a decent PH option for Thole, Navarro and Goins The problem is I'd prefer more versatility from my 4th OF. We have little to no speed on the bench at all
  3. Well of course. And they guaged this wrong in retrospect. I think most teams would have not predicted MLB success for a player with the minor league numbers Gomes had produced. Players surprise, for better or worse. It happens. And I like Rogers, he's useful to have. Though obviously, knowing now what a bust JPA turned out to be, and how devastating it was to lose Reyes last year, having Gomes and Aviles last year would have been very valuable.
  4. I'm not picking on BTS here. Just pointing out that even good posters here mostly thought Gomes was organizational filler before he got traded and blossomed in Cleveland. I cut AA some slack here.
  5. The Mike Aviles Era is Over To:fatcowxlive 11/3/12 86984.19Reply to 86984.16 B_T_S Posts:6367 Well Yan Gomes isn't a major-league player, so its really just Aviles.
  6. Closed This adds nothing over win prediction thread

  8. And even if Morrow has a 15 day DL or two, we have Redmond and Stroman backing him up, rather than Romero and Wang.
  9. Oh wow yeah, that is concerning IYAM.
  10. Not necessarily. The Yankees have not been lucky on the injury front the last 2 years. Now Red Sox...
  11. For sure. And offensively he may have be a lost cause. So unaware of his own deficiencies. But the lack of help in terms of coaching WRT to his defense was the most glaring thing.
  12. Not so sure. He also (rightfully) gave up on Snider, Thames and Arencibia after (correctly) realizing they were never going to break out and be good players. He guessed wrong with Gomes but I think most people would have. Gomes never looked better than a decent utility player when he was here.
  13. I think they expected him to improve too. And yet they seemed to do little to help him actually do so.
  14. Oh they tried to trade Price. But they wanted a king's ransom and wouldn't settle for less. And they know they have another chance or two.
  15. The experience was amazing due to the crowd and the Expos nostalgia which was very prevalent. The stadium is a POS of epic proportions. If they ever hope to bring a team back they need a brand new one and everyone knows it.
  16. Here's a picture I took today It's a pretty terrible design as you can see
  17. Great day! Over 50,000 fans Great 1994 Expos showing Jays win Morrow pitched well No one got hurt Met kingcat during the game Nice and warm outside post game Headed to Moishes for a giant steak before flying home Life is good
  18. Fans went nuts here for Grissolm and Alou
  19. And I know some might say it's gratuitous but they don't have to do it and I'm sure the kids love it. Not everyone is willing. A friend of mine was a season ticket holder in Boston for years. and it was a well known fact that the them would try all year long to get Manny Ramirez to do an occasional appearance. Even just to go to roped off area form auto graphs on fan appreciation day. And he never did a single appearance at anything the ENTIRE time he played for the Red Sox. OTOH Tom Brady does stuff like this all the time. My fiend's daughter was sick in hospital and met a bunch of the Patriots players.
  20. Yep I feel.better about then team than I did a month ago, that's for sure
  21. Fox sports guys were there and some MLB officials and the mayor of Montreal: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/morosi-major-league-baseball-returns-to-montreal-032914
  22. Anyhow, meeting plans for those there today: There are very flew places to meet, hardly anywhere with chairs. Today at 12:30 my friend and I are going to go to the "Cube Bar" area on the 3B side. It's at the concession area above 100 level seats, near the top of sections 120/122 I think - near there anyway. Come on over for a beer and say hi if you have time. I'll be wearing my blue Lawrie jersey but with "Tuiasosopo" taped across the name Cheers, Gsnarls
  23. That stadium is a shithole, it really is But the atmosphere last night was great
