  1. Zaun thinks they should "blow up" Wrigley field
  2. Was wondering when Perez fantasy owners would start clamoring.
  3. Cubs blew a lead in the 9th on the Wrigley 100th anniversary day. Gave up 5 runs in the 9th. Cubs will be Cubs.
  4. Done deal. There have been 4 complete games pitched in the AL so far this season. 2 of those are by Perez, both shutouts, in consecutive starts. Impressive. All Star??
  5. I leave McGowan in for several more starts before we know what he's really got. He's the first to go if he is failing, and is the one most likely replaced if Stroman is banging down the door in September. And yes, he is most likely to get hurt too. if he does, Redmond Happ or Stroman gets the spot. I don't envy AA in having to make THAT decision.
  6. If Perez comes out for the 9th, he has a chance to pitch 2 consecutive complete game shutouts. Now has a streak of 25 consecutive scoreless innings. Nice
  7. Quirky SSS stat - Perez has induced 11 double plays in 4 starts. On pace for an insane record number of them. Obv probably can't carry on at this pace but don't tell the Rangers broadcast team - they seem obsessed with it.
  8. Martin Perez trying to finish off another gem. Shutout in the 8th but A's threatening for the first time all game.
  9. Good thread, bad title, mind if I alter?
  10. http://rangersblog.dallasnews.com/2014/04/texas-rangers-seem-to-have-swapped-roles-for-robinson-chirinos-j-p-arencibia.html/ OAKLAND, Calif. – When it comes to playing time during this week’s early-season showdown with Oakland, it will apparently be a clean sweep. Robinson Chirinos will start all three games behind the plate; J.P. Arencibia will start none. Manager Ron Washington started Chirinos on Monday and Tuesday night and said he’d “probably” be the starter for Wednesday’s day game. Usually, in a catching platoon, the catchers would split duties so that one didn’t have to play a day game following a night game. Washington, however, also wants to pair Chirinos and Wednesday starter LHP Martin Perez. The two were teammates in Venezuela are friends and have paired well in Perez’s first four starts. Perez takes a 17-inning scoreless streak into the start. The Rangers can play Chirinos three straight days knowing that they will be able to give him – along with the rest of the team – a day off on Thursday “He’s been getting better at everything,” Washington said of Chirinos. “We saw that in spring training. He’s been pretty good. He’s blocked balls well, he’s done a good job receiving.” Washington declined to say that Chirinos had taken over as the team’s starting catcher, but the playing situation suggests that is the case. “I’ve got two catchers,” Washington said. “I don’t have a number one and a number two.” Chirinos’ start Tuesday was his sixth in the Rangers’ last eight games. The Rangers were 5-0 in the give games with him before Tuesday.

  12. Washington hates him http://isportsweb.com/wp-content/uploads//2013/09/Mad-Ron.jpg
  13. Here's hoping. I'd love to see 40+ for the weekend games against Boston.
  14. Thanks for correction. Here's a hat for you. (And JP) http://www.mickeysplace.com/images/DSC_0037.jpg
  15. No doubt. He'll knock 30 out in AAA Red Rock.
  16. It took me a second but I got it.
  17. Yeah I agree that if we're in contention in July and August the numbers will go up. But I think we all saw this coming.
  18. The team can be slow to give up on guys. but the recent cases of Lincoln, Thames, Snider and Arencibia all look like they made the right call in moving on. Only Gomes recently sticks out as unfortunate but most people felt he was sub par. Rajai is playing well but we knew he'd be decent. We just didn't want to pay him what Detroit did. Bonifacio is playing over his head and will regress.
  19. They couldn't have done much LESS to get them excited this off season either
  20. Rogers will spend if the fans come out, right? It's early but I don't like the numbers. The last 4 games have drawn 13,123, 13,569, 15,778 and 14,866 fans. Last year the lowest attendance all season was 15,684 and it was rare to have fewer than 20,000. Maybe we've had more weekday games and uninteresting opponents in the 7 games so far. I'm very curious to see how the crowds are with the Red Sox coming on the weekend.
  21. Intuition tells me that the slider is more effective when he has command of his fastball and is ahead in the count. Guys have been laying off the slider sometimes when he's all over the place. when the fastball is in or at least near the zone it seems like they can't lay off the slider. If, for the sake of discussion, he started throwing twice as many sliders, would he get as many swing and misses from it?
