He might be the best player in the league. Look at the year he’s having with the bat and he’s probably the best outfielder in the league. “It’s a good idea to bear down on your own guys — and they have had a ton of their own scouts in there. You made fewer mistake when you scout your own team.” Mississauga’s Pompey, an Oakville Royals grad, is eighth in hitting at .312, leads the league in stolen bases with 27 and is fourth in OPS at .852. As the clock ticks towards the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline a number of teams who may make pitching available have had sent their scouts to Dunedin to evaluate the Jays prospects. Taylor Cole pitched Monday morning in a loss to Brevard County allowing four earned runs on eight hits and three walks. Ben White pitched Sunday afternoon — three runs on eight hits — in a loss to Brevard. Drawing the attention of other teams besides Pompey others drawing interest from other scouts are outfielder Dwight Smith (.266 average, five homers, 28 RBIs in 69 games, .733 OPS), third baseman Gustavo Pierre (.251, four homers, 25 RBIs, .640 OPS) and 6-foot-5 shortstop Emilio Guerrero (.297, six homers, 29 RBIs in 59 games, .682 OPS). Matt Boyd is 5-1 with an 0.67 ERA after six starts at New Hampshire (0-2, 8.31) walking 11 and fanning 61 in 69 Dunedin innings. Cole is 5-4 with a 2.86 ERA, with 21 walks and 103 strikeouts in 88 innings. White is 3-4 with a 5.01 ERA with 17 walks and 38 whiffs in 70 innings.

That's what I though Olney think either: A) Jays are good enough as is or They're not serious contenders Not sure which LOL. But pretty sad if it's B because he's got the f'n Mariners on there

New York Yankees rotation: They're three games out in the AL East and one game out in the wild-card race as they open a series against the Red Sox, and their rotation ranks 21st in the majors in ERA. 3. Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop: They need an experienced alternative to Hanley Ramirez in case they determine that Ramirez's shoulder issue will linger. 4. Seattle Mariners outfield: The Mariners are in the thick of the AL wild-card race, but they need a hitter. 5. Oakland Athletics rotation: The A's need depth, and they'll get it. 6. Detroit Tigers bullpen: Tony Paul draws up a helpful list of 25 relievers who could interest the Tigers.

I'm willing to upgrade my projection to as high as 88 wins Feels just about right. The schedule in September is BRUTAL. 90+ wins is hard to fathom. Whether we make the playoffs depends on, IMHO: 1. Orioles and Yankees performance in the second half 2. Team health (especially Bautista, Lawrie and the starting pitching staff) 3. Whether AA does anything at by the trade deadline or not

Yeah even a Tampa/Baltimore split over 4 games would be great. But that offensive matchup there is devastatingly in favour of the O's.

Time to pad the lead folks We get 4 games vs the White Sox (winning less than 3/4 unnaceptable and we already took the opener) Meanwhile our rivals all play each other! Tampa vs Baltimore double header today and Boston @ New York Yankees I want to end this weekend with at least an extra 1.5-2.0 games of a lead. This is one of those times you have to get it done. . An average baserunner would have scored easily on the play. Was a bad call by Rivera sending him. The white Sox defense has been absolutely atrocious. Lots of other gaffes too including a bad throw by Moises Sierra.
