  1. Stephen Drew started for Sox today 0-2 with a walk so far
  2. Beeston: Broke the trust last year. Wants to show fans Willing to add payroll and expects attendance to go up if they're winning Attendance suffering due to inconvenience/Gardiner construction - no excuse, not much they can do. There was a sellout one day the gardner was a disataer and there were to fundraiser walks going on. "Give people a reason to come down". Buerhle - not surprised about his leadership, pleasantly surprised about his hot start to the season. (knew his W-L record and ERA off hand) Had the same feeling this spring training as he did in 1992 spring training. The "resolve" and talent feels equivalent. Edwin is ridiculously hot Video replay - he is on related committees. There will be tweaks. Will be done this off season. Keeping opinions to himself. Managers fighting with umpires was a "fun part of the game" that he seems to miss Melky and Colby - likely to wait until the end of the tear. Doesn't know what direction they'll go. Grass - blah blah blah
  3. Yankees have tied it up 2-2 Other leads holding (so far)
  4. LOL OK Sigh... Edit: Twisted Logic seems to be on it
  5. Not sure I can bear to listen to 18 minutes of the Beest Anyone else willing to do so and report back??
  6. Listened to AA first Loving Melky, Buerhle and Dickey improved performance this year - main reason they're better Hopes Stroman sticks in the rotation this year - threw out Sonny Gray comp Says they have the resources to re-sign Cabrera and Rasmus if they want to - prefers off season and more information but we shouldn't ne shocked if something got done sooner Gose looks good, sounded like he's not guaranteed to stay though Hendriks kept in AAA as a starter in case yhey need him again "as soon as 10 days from now" Hutch "not happy" abut being pushed back but they didn't like how he looked last time out and they though more rest would help him. Not on any innings limit but don't want to regret having overused him at end of season.
  7. Beeston: http://pmd.fan590.com/audio_on_demand-3/Paul-Beeston-with-Jeff-Blair-and-Kevin-Barker-bc-20140602-Interview.mp3 AA: http://pmd.fan590.com/audio_on_demand-3/Alex-Anthopoulos-with-Jeff-Blair-and-Stephen-Brunt-JB-SB-20140602-Interview.mp3
  8. AA on Prime Time Sports today discussing Stroman June is a big month for him (and the team) Hopes he sticks in the starting rotation this year Likes the way his first big league experience was from BP because second time up things are less intimidating Hopes he can have a "Sonny Gray effect" on the team
  9. We also have a better lineup than KC but Seitzer may well be helping things. Can't believe the mess with the Royals in the meantime. this was the "it" club 1-2 years ago that was poised to make a big move.
  10. TANK NATION BABY!! lottery pick filler
  11. Who said that?!?!?! http://backinblue.kc-media.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/aa2.jpg
  12. It’s hard not to wonder how much fault lies in the terrible decision to fire hitting coach Kevin Seitzer after the 2012 season. He was fired because the Royals didn’t hit for enough power, which sounds like the setup to one of Aesop’s Fables given what’s happened since: The Royals have plowed through hitting coaches like Spinal Tap drummers. Dale Sveum was hired on Thursday to replace Pedro Grifol, who last July replaced George Brett, who replaced Jack Maloof and Andre David last May. The Royals had five different hitting coaches in less than a year and haven’t hit for power with any of them — they are dead last in the majors in home runs since the start of last season. Meanwhile, the Toronto Blue Jays, who hired Seitzer to be their hitting coach this offseason, lead the majors in home runs and runs scored, and lead the AL East.
  13. Olerud363: Please tell us the conversation that would take place between Beeston, Gaston, AA and Gibby during Utley's age 37 season, as they try to decide how much playing time they should give him. Thank you
  14. Utley - Classic Amaro Jr contract: 2014 35 Philadelphia Phillies $15,000,000 2015 36 Philadelphia Phillies $10,000,000 (2015 salary increases by $5M to $15M with 15 days or less on disabled list with knee injury in 2014) 2016 37 Philadelphia Phillies *$15,000,000 $15M Vesting Option option guaranteed with 500 plate appearance in previous season 2017 38 Philadelphia Phillies *$15,000,000 $15M Vesting Option option guaranteed with 500 plate appearance in previous season 2018 39 Philadelphia Phillies *$15,000,000 $15M Vesting Option option guaranteed with 500 plate appearance in previous season
  15. Dat payroll!! Can't gamble on Utley. 35 years old now and he has several of those "Amaro Jr special" vesting options that pay him 15M per year for his age 37, 38, 39 seasons if he gets enough plate appearances. No thanks...
  16. http://d1mxyp5ceukbya.cloudfront.net/images/otis-nixon-arrested-drugs.jpg http://www.csmonitor.com/var/ezflow_site/storage/images/media/content/2013/5-7-13-otis-nixon-arrested/15724671-1-eng-US/5-7-13-Otis-Nixon-arrested_full_600.jpg Not sure he looks any worse post drug bust than he did while playing...
  17. Phillies sinking further and further in the standings, so...
  18. Thank you for NOT making a thread for this, BTW
  19. But meanwhile Hurl and BTS voted for James Loney 70 times Get back to work!
  20. Random thought: I hated Otis Nixon and his ugly ass face
  21. Yeah, I can name at least 30 other players I'd take ahead of Machado
  22. Kansas City meanwhile has gone through 3 other hitting coaches since they fired him. LOL
  23. He is striking out at EXACTLY his career norm (~34%) but the extra base power compensates. His BABip is 30 points higher than his usual.
  24. Same here wRC+ 99 vs 78/75 for Machado/Moustakas Lawrie actually IS a league average bat. I don't think most of us realized that.
