Really no reason to sign him to a 1 year, at least right now. If he accepts the qualifying offer, it's 1 year anyway and if he rejects it, we could explore it then if we chose. I actually think we'll try to sign him for 3 years or so, assuming he's open to staying.

He's surprisingly fast and agile (although with that weight he might not be for much longer). If he could lose 50 lbs or so he could probably steal 15 to 20 bases.

Anyone else see that Harvey piece on MLB Central? He was walking around New York polling people on what they thought of him, but all these fans (one wearing a Harvey jersey) didn't know it was him.

It appears you can enter it, just can't accept the prizes if you win. It would still be pretty damn cool to have your entry win. Also, we have people on this board who live in the States so check the attitude.

I suspect we'll be competitively in on him. The fact we aren't mentioned in the rumors is probably a good thing. We also clearly have a spot for him, basically right now.

I'm not sure we can say that. The original reports apparently suggested that having him start where he gets structured and regular work, with proper time to warm up would be best for his health. If he can stay healthy he definitely provides the best value in the rotation though.

Arbitrary end points with all else being equal are misleading, but I'm not sure they are in Romero's case as it appears he's getting his confidence and command back. I do think however that he should get at minimum 3 to 5 more starts down there before even considering bringing him up, and coming up in September would be even better.

I'm totally on board with that IF it's done early in the off-season and Halladay is put immediately on the Delabar program (and if the contract isn't stupid).

Dustin is really a good question. If he stays relatively healthy, I think he'll be either a higher end starter or a closer. His stuff is just too dominant for anything else. The question is in how we can keep him healthiest.
