  1. This was interesting from a Sportsnet article. http://www.sportsnet.ca/blogs/blue-jays-rundown/the-good-and-bad-from-blue-jays-vs-red-sox/
  2. I'm not so sure Van Slyke would be exposed. His numbers vs R/L in the minors were pretty much identical, and they aren't significantly different in the majors. I kind of feel like he just needs to be given a chance to play. Guerrero doesn't have a great defensive reputation and he does have an out clause, but he also wants to play. I kind of feel like he'd probably waive that as part of the trade if he was told he'd have a starting role wherever he went. Based on the money left on his contract, I don't think he's require a big return either.
  3. Considering the heavy ground ball numbers, and the fact Pompey has some serious wheels, I wonder if the Jays would consider going with 5 infielders when he pitches?
  4. They'd probably be looking for higher end lower minors guys anyway, since they are ridiculously stacked at the big league level right now. Likely wouldn't create a hole.
  5. I figured you were reading Andy Capp cartoons to try to better understand Spanky and TCA...
  6. The best thing that could happen to my fantasy teams is Craig, Guerrero, and Ethier all getting traded before opening day.
  7. He sure is. Snag him and Van Slyke (who would be an above average 1st baseman by the looks of it, and could back up all 3 outfield spots as well)
  8. I think the best example might be the ultimate sinkerballer Derek Lowe. He had lower K rates (I actually think Sanchez will strike out more batters than Lowe), and as a starter the seasons where Lowe struggled were the ones where his walk rate approached or exceeded 3. When it was close to 2, he did quite well (mid 3's xFIP and ERA). Good command of a pitch designed to be hit is so incredibly important.
  9. B-R is nice during spring training, since they have the spring stats. Their contract details are nice too, if you don't want to muck around cots contracts to find them.
  10. Yeah, that would make sense. Trout has had a big drop in defense and baserunning too (not that he isn't still ridiculously valuable)
  11. You can't really complain since you got two excellent starts from the goalies you did start, just not the shutout.
  12. I'm using a script to hide them, so I never see it.
  13. It's a minor league deal. There's really no downside.
  14. I was referring to the pitcher gripping the ball more than the flight of the ball. If it reduces their ability to throw breaking balls (or reduces the break due to poor grip), then I'd disagree that it's more about the travel of the ball. As you said though, it's all about getting the data.
  15. It would be worth incorporating humidity too imo. I've seen quite a few reports of pitchers in colder/low humidity games struggling to grip the ball. Would be an interesting study.
  16. How did you adjust for game cancellation risk? Are you actually pulling the weather data for each park, or just dinging each city based on average numbers over the past few years or something?
  17. He'll probably be a top end holds guy with SP eligibility this year (think Wade Davis last year). It sucks compared to the value he could have as a starter, but I wouldn't say he's useless. Over 44.2 innings in the majors, he's held lefties to a .191/.274/.286 line with 54 k's in 44.2 innings (and most of that as a starter, in relief he'll probably average 95 mph instead of topping out there and the numbers will be even better). He still has swing and miss stuff vs righties too (just gives up too many gopher balls).
  18. Yeah. Probably a slight blister or nail problem. Since pitch counts aren't that high yet, probably not a big deal.
  19. For anyone who missed the game earlier today, it's on Sportsnet again in an hour.
  20. If you don't still want to do it, send a note to the commish and ask that it be denied. I don't usually like sending offers via Yahoo for that reason, but with the deadline approaching I didn't think there was time to PM.
  21. Nothing cooking On the plus side, Ekholm is the only guy on the cutdown chopping block that I have left who has any real value. Pretty happy about that! Got my 15 keepers set now.
  22. Ekholm is still available cheap if someone is looking for a defenseman.
  23. You're having waaaaaay too much fun lol
  24. Trade: To JaysFever: Bonino + Gardiner + 1st round draft pick + Gaunce To Abomination: Gerbe + Vasilevski
