You DO realize we'd control Yelich for the next five years at a team friendly rate, right? I mean, you aren't giving up much in terms of difference of control, and getting a guy that produced 4.5 WAR in three of the last four years. The chances of Bo doing that are slim, which isn't to say he's not an exciting and valuable guy to have. Trading him for a guy with a year or two left on the contract would be entirely different, but Yelich has five. -
I'm not sure about that in team sports. Solo ones like golf and tennis, obviously.

Yelich is the one kind of guy we WOULD potentially consider moving one of those guys for. I don't think we'll do it though. -
In many ways that's true everywhere though. You get paid more as you gain seniority. It really just models any other business sector. Senior MLB players are basically the upper management and CEOs, rookies are the entry level guys, and MiLB players are the interns.

Apparently the Solarte trade happened while Atkins was stuck on the tarmac at Pearson for four hours lol. He almost ran out of battery, and the plane was older and didn't have any ability to charge it. He had to finish the negotiations on his wife's phone. -
Sign Ethier (who can platoon in LF) and either Anderson or Liriano, then use whatever's left for addressing RF by FA or trade (maybe ugh Cargo or Grandy). Not the sexiest team, but probably a capable one if it can stay somewhat healthy.

With the prices of relief pitchers this offseason, I kind of feel like getting a similar relief arm to Biagini may cost more than resigning someone like Anderson or Liriano to start, and probably with similar results. Might as well stick him in the pen.
