  1. I can't believe he thinks claiming they aren't pictures of HIM makes it better as opposed to worse. The late night talk shows are going to have a field day with that one.
  2. No way he survives it.
  3. That might legitimately be the difference in signing him. Seriously, how hard is it for people to NOT send nude pictures to random people?
  4. We sure seem to have a lot of guys who can throw multiple innings. It'll be interesting to see how we decide to use them.
  5. Yeah, maybe. It sounds crazy until you look a little closer. I think I'd still prefer the everyday bat though. 2020 was screwy for a lot of players. I wouldn't put too much into Gleyber's weird numbers last year.
  6. Apparently the Reds asked the Yankees for Gleyber+ in exchange for Luis Castillo. People may as well forget about that idea. It would likely cost us Bo or Vladdy and then some.
  7. Yeah, there is a chance. I don't think it's even clear that Musgrove is a significant upgrade over Lucchesi though, and they're paying a lot of prospect capital on top of that. I guess it largely depends on whether the enhanced breaking balls hold effectiveness over a full season and what the reason is for the difference, which is information we don't have. SD clearly believes.
  8. These refs are terrible. I doubt Nurse makes it through the game without being tossed, and Carlisle already has been.
  9. No reason to give up a significant prospect if we can get an equivalent SP on the FA list. The only real benefit to Musgrove is the contract, and that's not an issue for us atm.
  10. Agreed. The prospects are more valuable to us right now than Musgrove's cheap contract is.
  11. Musgrove's curve and slider had a massive jump in movement last year with almost no change in velocity. Interesting.
  12. People need to temper the enthusiasm on Martin. Even Bregman played most of 2 minor league seasons before coming up. The minor league season this year is already delayed, and it might be for some time. Martin won't have played in a real game for over a year, and has never played in a professional game. Expecting him for anything other than a cup of coffee before 2023 is likely going to lead to a lot of disappointment.
  13. I want no part of Jeffress unless it's a minor league deal.
  14. We'll see a WAR decrease as he slows and switches positions, but I don't think we'll see a major offensive decrease. His offensive profile doesn't really rely on his speed.
  15. I hope that's a joke.
  16. I most certainly did not.
  17. Captain Canada is Stubby Clapp. Everyone else simply falls short.
  18. Never bet against Brady. He'll deflate you every time.
  19. I feel like the price on controllable, ace level starting pitching is simply going to be too high. We're (likely) going to have an elite offense. I think our resources are best spent shoring up the defense at CF and 3B. Buy a couple veteran SP who will keep us in the game and a good arm or two in the pen and let the offense go to work.
  20. For me personally, I value Gurriel much, much higher than Teoscar. That may not be the consensus though. I kinda think I'd rather buy pitching than trade for it.
  21. Sign me up for that. I think he'll get more though.
  22. Not for the upper range of any expected outcome, which is what I said. He's a top prospect for good reason, but if he consistently puts up 3 to 4 WAR, we should be jumping for joy.
  23. TB should probably rethink their punting strategy.
  24. It's one year of a bad contract, and there's no way Oakland does the deal straight up. That is what I think it would require to make the trade happen, and I think it's a deal that would be beneficial to both teams. Just my opinion.
  25. Why? Laureano is likely a 3-4 WAR legitimate CF who has room for further improvement and has 4 years of control remaining. He addresses an immediate need, and we still have the flexibility to make a significant splash with someone like Springer. Laureano is likely the upper range of the expected outcome for Martin in two or three years and fits our core's timeline perfectly.
