  1. If the Jays continue over 30K on average and have sell outs like the July 1st game, AA will not be fired. Plain and simple.
  2. Astros xFIP this year 4.42, Jays xFIP this year 4.36. some other numbers K/9 Astros 6.78, Jays 6.88, BB/9 Astros 3.49, Jays 3.41 GB% Astros 44.7, Jays 43.5 HR/9 Astros 1.29, Jays 1.23 When you just do starters the Astros are ahead of the Jays in every single one of those categories except for BB/9 where the Stros are 3.45 to the Jays 3.42. I know someone will say that the Jays won't be running out Ortiz, Jenkins or Romero's which bring down our numbers, however the Astros now won't be running out Humber or Peacock who kill their peripherals too. Essentially the Astros starting pitching which you guys are making fun of...is equal to or better than the Jays starting pitching to date.
  3. but it was so much of what made Boni have some value in Florida. 8 out of 11 in 2012, 16 out of 27 in 2011, 15 out of 28 in 2009 (does not include how many times he attempted for a strike and got himself into an unfavourable count). That's probably higher than his BABIP on line drives. He's got a useless bat but why not work more on the bunt and get him back to being that guy...it's not like there is anything else he can work on which will give him these results.
  4. that would make sense except for he was a 1 or 2 hitter for almost his entire career in Florida. He only had about 9% of his PA's batting 8th.
  5. it's such a nothing move though. There is so little that suggests any one of the 4 will be better than the rest by enough going forward to really matter. There is an obvious issue with Boni's approach. How does a guy with an 8% career BB rate suddenly become a 2.9% BB rate guy? The guy had 46 Bunt for hits over his past three seasons (13% of his hits in total) he's had 3 here. I hate the guy, I hated the guy coming in but why isn't he at least playing like the player that he is?
  6. Most teams have threads complaining that they have 4 guys who should slot into the "25th man role", we have a 15+ page thread begging to keep one. Seriously we all knew this would happen, he's got options, the F.O. loves boni (and it gives them an opportunity to move Rajai), MDR was brought in for a non baseball reason that the F.O. believes in. Izturis I'm not sure but I still knew they wouldn't dump him. We need the F.O to hire a clown for the clubhouse so we can get better baseball players on the field.
  7. create something for that and get it on urban dictionary. Overall I think Wagner signed with the first team that gave him an offer. Coming to Toronto would be appealing to most minor league contracts as in November our team looked like a mess. He signed before the Marlins deal (although it was rumoured). Getting out of the PCL might have been motivation but the Twins were his first choice and they passed
  8. 65 seasons of major league pitching between Rodney, Peralta, McGee, Farnsworth, Torres, Ramos and Wright...maybe this is what confuses you about the Jays lack of success against Tampa, you don't watch baseball
  9. Missed most of his junior year with a back injury, broke his foot a week after we sign him. He's really an unknown still, defense was supposedly questionable and his contact rates are expected to be poor. He's got pop though
  10. it's longer than that though, he's really struggled since the end of June last season. He's got a career .243/.299/.382 line away from the Rogers Centre (still only 422 PA's though) and when he was in the line up this season his contact rates had the worst drop in the majors. There are concerns with him moving forward, at first it looked like the good defense was a good and surprising bonus. Now it's looking more and more like he'll need the D to keep his value.
  11. probably pretty low...if he hits absolutely nothing in the minors than maybe. I think they'll use close to the full 20 days after his rehab starts.
  12. I wish I wrote my list down. I know i was one of the two that had Lopes at 4, him being at 13 is probably the one that stands out to me as the biggest miss of this list. Talent wise I understand putting Alford inside the top 10 (purely talent I'd have him at 4 probably) but the likelihood of him making the majors is so much lower as long as he's playing football.
  13. If anyone wants the live stream. http://www.stream2watch.me/live-tv/espn-live-stream be patient and find the X to close the ads. Miss. St. has bases loaded with 2 out
  14. Mississippi State reliever (yes reliever) and Blue Jays 9th rounder has had three straight games with 10 or more K's. Now has 4 in 2 and 2/3's in the 1st game of the CWS, he's looked fantastic in this game. He has 73 K's in 52 IP this year. UCLA up 3-0 in the 4th.

  16. I don't know what you people were so excited about...this is the same team that I last watched
  17. Longo with a miss????? If there is a loss here I think you know who we can blame. I've watched just two full games during the streak
  18. Bottom 10 system. Very few upside bats. Pitching wise it's probably 15 to 20th, hitting wise it's probably 28 to 30th.
  19. I gave away two tickets to the game...annoys me you know how much I love turning profit.
  20. July 1st game is sold out. Got to be the first time in almost 20 years that a non opener is sold out a week in advanced.
  21. I'm guessing that the Jays were there scouting...Edison Volquez. I love denial from fans when there is something they don't want to hear. He's a guy who throws a 95 MPH sinker, has thrown just two less quality starts as Buehrle and Dickey and will be available for nothing. Lots of teams will look at him. Doesn't mean that the Jays will trade for him, doesn't mean they are looking at anyone else. Just old school scouting that almost never works, some guy will say "I see something I think might work" and their team will end up with Volquez...we just have to hope it's not one of our scouts.
  22. That's a really slippery slope. Bullpens can turn around tomorrow and implode all at the same time. It's still an overworked BP and if this pen carries, realistic to it's talent, numbers for the month of June we're still probably a few games under .500. The entire pitching staff both pen and starters have gone from the among the worst GB staff to the best, there is obvious a push for pitchers to keep the ball down but if we are a 50+% GB staff, we aren't going to sustain June's BABIP all year. When the Jays staff comes back to realistic pitching numbers are we more than a .500 team? As for AA my opinions will not change, he built a "winning" team by increasing payroll without thoughts towards what to do next, essentially hoping for a playoff run. He's actually caught a PR break with the team's slow start as coming back from the bottom has brought the buzz back (much more so than if this team were playing a steady .500 all season). On a side note, AA was at the ball tourney I was working at last night watching his nephew play, I wouldn't have said anything to him anyway but I would have loved to have been told, so that I could have trolled him a bit in my head.
  23. he's so full of s*** that he tried to temper expectations. He doesn't want those expectations back on this team as it makes his job more difficult as the deadline approaches. This was from his interview with RG in March talking about why add Dickey at such a high price after already adding 2 starters: "We were better. We were better no doubt. I still was uneasy with the rotation and it wasn’t about adding a No. 3 starter a No. 4 starter. It wasn’t about adding just one more guy with innings. It was about being able to add someone that would slot everybody down a peg and obviously adding someone like R.A. up at the top and now all of a sudden the rotation looks so much more complete with him going right at the front of it. And again contractually he fit with the core salary-wise. So all those things fit in. We paid a steep price. It’s like we talk about just like in free agency. You don’t mind paying a little bit more if you feel like it’s the final piece. I’d say the same thing in a trade. You don’t mind paying a little bit more if you feel like it’s that one piece that’s going to push the aggregate sum over the top" "you feel like it's the final piece" yeah that's not sending the runaway train off the tracks at all. I don't blame him at all, part of his job but he's now trying to reel things back in again. Make the Jays look like that underdog again.
