  1. So hard to say. Right now at least the Tigers don't have to make moves to increase attendance, just try and put out a winner, minimum for them is that they are in the Central and should in the race for a few years anyway. He gave away a bunch of depth for Miggy and it failed for several seasons. Money and a healthy Verlander has helped him get to the playoffs. Most GM's wouldn't have traded Granderson and Edwin Jackson after a second bust season but it ended up being a huge trade for the Tigers. Coke, Scherzer and A-Jax have been huge for them and eventually they made the playoffs in 2011 and of course last year. Most GM's would have been strung up after making so many huge trades and not making the playoffs for three years.
  2. it's right around that concern point...with a guy like Marisnick I think you can chalk it up partially to returning from the injury though. He's never been over 20% at any point and he was 28.9% in May. So far in 100 June PA's he's only struck out 14 times while walking 7. I've always been a big Marisnick guy though.
  3. Still hard to say how his bat is going to translate, I've been advocating him being a future platoon partner for Gose. Pillar kills lefties and fits into the 4th OF role well (if his CF defense is passable). One thing is certain he takes a spot on the 40 man (Sierra is done as he's out of options) or is traded this year.
  4. Keith Law? I've put a poll (pole) up now.
  5. the shocking story here is that Daulton has a brain. Just kidding, I wish him well.
  6. Eric Filia is currently not a top 500 prospect for the 2014 draft...he'll probably get top 5 rounds just because of the recognition that his girl gets him (the plays he made in the OF, and raising his average 30 points in the playoff games won't hurt I suppose)
  7. or thrown into the ocean
  8. My Bonnie parody song time? Yes some people jump down the throats of posters very quickly but after years of being trolled when a really bad suggestion comes up it's tougher to look at someone as "uneducated" on the subject, rather than just trying to get a reaction out of people. To answer the OP's question, Buehrle has a lot less value in trade (without a lot of money going the other way) than he does going out and giving the Jays some innings. For the rest of his time in Toronto he's never going to get traded for a good prospect. If he's pitching well enough to have that value he's staying, if he's not pitching well enough for us, he's got no value to anyone else.
  9. that's correct. the batter isn't a runner until he reaches first. 4.09 HOW A TEAM SCORES. (a) One run shall be scored each time a runner legally advances to and touches first, second, third and home base before three men are put out to end the inning. EXCEPTION: A run is not scored if the runner advances to home base during a play in which the third out is made (1) by the batter-runner before he touches first base; (2) by any runner being forced out; or (3) by a preceding runner who is declared out because he failed to touch one of the bases
  10. I thought people should get a kick out of this. This weekend at the tournament I worked at, in the Bantam (age 14/15) finals it was 2 out, man on third. Batter hits a soft dribbler short of the first base bag. The 1B waits for the runner and tags him for some reason. The out happens, the coach (while it's volunteer, this is still a AAA team most coaches have been around ball their whole lives) jumps out and screams that the runner crossed the plate before the tag was made. He argues with the Ump (we hired Level 3 umps and paid them extra) and they had to have a 4 man conference and didn't know the answer. They called the convener who made the correct call of the batter must reach first whether it's through a tag or force out. The coach played under protest (dropped when he realized the cost of the protest and his assistants told him he was wrong). I have the MLB rule book on my phone but didn't have my phone with me, someone else had an MLB rulebook in their car got it and I say "section 4, somewhere under how a team scores". Everyone was impressed when I was correct. Sad the s*** I can remember about baseball but forgot today was Thursday (seriously I missed an appointment today thinking it was Wednesday).
  11. Happ, Drabek and Hutch all have options but you can probably time their 30 days of rehab without wasting it. You get them in the expanded rosters in September without using an option and use the rehab to decide just how many major league hitters they face. If AA feels he needs an arm at the deadline he'll get it without ever thinking about those three at least. Wang and Rogers shouldn't cross his mind either. It wouldn't surprise me if Hutch is the trade chip though.
  12. You haven't looked recently have you? Last 28 days BJ .231/.341/.435 Justin .200/.305/.256 They are starting to sit BJ against certain righties so his OPS is looking better because of it. Justin has been horrible all month though.
  13. League average guys for $2M are the signings that all teams should be looking for (in reference to Schierholtz ) but trading for him expecting him to continue his current pace would be a mistake.
  14. Brandon Morrow (forearm) has yet to resume throwing. Morrow underwent an MRI last week which revealed in inflammation in his forearm. The Blue Jays want to make sure all the inflammation is gone before he resumes throwing. There's no timetable for his return. Jun 24 - 5:15 PM
  15. Jorge Soler out for the season with a stress factor in his shin.
  16. Blue Jays interns don't get to do anything near this important.
  17. ewww...really you want to work hard?
  18. it's the reason that Vegas makes a higher percentage on baseball compared to any other sport. If they could ever get football money bet on to baseball, sportsbooks would be Mayweather rich
  19. I still think the Jays. Neck and neck with the O's for the worst pitching but the O's have 3 games on the Jays now. I still stick with my original prediction of no one over 92, no one under 80
  20. Bisons...Goins back to New Hampshire, An infield of Negrych, Muni, Johnny Mac, with McCoy in the OF is going to draw about 40K a game.

we know what Nick was doing two nights ago (and probably every night). Anyway entertaining stats on mourning with porn http://blogimages.thescore.com/nhl/files/2013/06/Boston-porn.jpg
  22. I'm going to have to check my manual about banning/warning for horrible taste
  23. where are the mouthy Thole supporters now? Probably hanging with the Negrych'ian folk
  24. actually I think the Kawasaki move was the least pussy move. IMO he's trying to make a trade that makes space for Muni but it's tough without some team having major injury. As I've said best bet is actually dealing Rajai and getting Boni out of the IF mix.
