  1. I was at the game and livid that Pillar wasn't brought in to face the lefty. Seriously I thought Gibbons was better than following SSS stats, then he got bailed out by the error on Goins double play ball.
  2. plagiarism will not be tolerated if NJH feels he was wronged we'll take the post down.
  3. nice first effort.
  4. Rajai still won't get a great amount of money. He turns 33 in the off-season and players can rave about their WAR all they want they are still probably going to get paid by their slash line and his isn't great. He's a 100% platoon guy somewhere and will be paid accordingly. Personally I'd let him walk and go with someone with upside and better D, but I'm not holding my breath on that happening.
  5. I really don't think they address 2B or C at all (or just in back up roles) unless there is another big trade where they try and plug holes all in one deal. I do agree with you though that defensive options at 2B and C who can't hit would be better than what they have, but I'm not 100% sure that A) our F.O. could identify good D or they care enough about defense anyway.
  6. I don't think that anyone is saying that. Goins has four things going for him, he's cheap, he's can play multiple positions, he can play them average at least and he's got options. He's a better option for the 25th man than MDR was this year. Will he ever be a starter...probably not. Who knows maybe he can become a Willie Blomquist and put together a 10 plus year career as a part time guy, his ceiling really is that low though.
  7. Listening to the New Hampshire game after Deck No hit Binghampton through 5. While he gave up 3 runs in the 6th including a double (Andy Burns led off the inning with an error) he recovered from what had to be a huge disappointment and struck out the last two. Impressive sounding pitches, he'll only be able to go one more though most likely or will be pulled. He's still getting outpitched by Gorski though.
  8. Deck is the only one not on the 40 that I think might be added, as he's going to get added most likely in October anyway. For the record he blew up in the 7th inning after no hits through 5.
  9. How does it save money as Izturis is being paid anyway...this theory only works for those that seriously think we are going out and getting a top 2B.
  10. should really be everyone on the 40 man. Buffalo won't be in the playoffs so why not bring up Gomez and the s***** relievers too.
  11. Boni is a slap hitter who doesn't know that he's at his best when slapping hitting and even when doing that really isn't very good. The things that he can do occasionally which make him less bad, are make better contact, hit it down and walk as much as possible. All three of those things were at career lows for the Jays. He swung at 38.2% of the pitches he saw last year...48.7 while with the Jays. Boni is a stupid stupid guy...but someone should have been identifying some of these things. Not like he's going to ever be a successful guy in this league though, didn't want him here in the first place, don't care about his 8 games in KC. He also had 48 Bunts for hits over 1700 PA's with the Marlins, equaling 12% of his hits...he had 3 here.
  12. Completely believe in the glove and appreciate how valuable he'll be but just don't believe he'll ever be a consistent bat. He still can't hit anything but fastballs, part of his recent success is changes to the approach and stance, but it's partially that he's getting more fastballs as well.
  13. hope pray realize that hoping and praying will not help repeat process
  14. No one should be looking at B/R's vs. starter splits at all as they aren't splits. vs Starter batting splits are for the entire game when the starter was LH or RH. These splits include any subsequent plate appearances against a reliever regardless of their throwing hand. These splits are a proxy for platoon splits for seasons we lack play-by-play data. from GL team pitching splits indicate how batters did against the team and use the batter's overall batting handedness for this split.
  15. I think there will be several moves done for more PR purposes than baseball sense...that is all
  16. As the leading Goins booster leading up to his callup...he can play shortstop adequately which makes him a great candidate for 26th an, leading to a role as 25th man. When everyone was crying for negrych I was a "if he is needed Goins is the better option". With that glowing review I still see 25th man as his future
  17. this is exactly what I thought Pillar would be...tough to strike out against a Lefty pitcher and awful against good to average righties. The result wasn't there that AB but it's the first time I've seen him looking like he did in the minors.
  18. reel it in a bit and we might be able to work something out
  19. Anyone want Eovaldi or Milone for a pick or a pick upgrade?
  20. Mayo was actually starting to get a little bit better, he was being mentored by Callis anyway...but still I hope they replace Mayo completely. Any word who takes Executive Editor at BA?
  21. more waiver claims going on today. Kendry Morales has been claimed by someone.
