  1. As NJH prepares his offer to Z3ros... I got to agree zero chance on those numbers.
  2. ZIPS put up a pretty unreal projection for Tanaka today
  3. I tell them every time I take a s***.
  4. Record is $10M and Cutch only got $4.5M in his extension. Most of the projections I've seen for Trout have been on the conservative side.
  5. I don't even remember turning on the computer when I got home last night. I use the defense of drunkeness. Although I'm guessing my anger had to do with the fact that Nox left me at his computer and I posted with all the maturity of a 12 year old and no one even responded.
  6. Almost seems like Amaro is playing a fun game of "lets see how much harm I can do...and still not get fired". Ryan Howard extension...still here Need a back up OF and back up 1B, let Brandon Moss walk for nothing ... still here 2 year deal to a 45 year old...still here Let Jason Grilli walk just because he had an opt out clause in his contract that Amaro was pissed was included. $50M closer...still here
  7. I never intend to take 12 hours (I actually had a 12 hour shift today though and I don't have much access so it was a possibility). I like to say that though to get some of the "your up" messages to back off.
  8. I had two thought processes going into this draft. Take two closers (which is what I wanted to do when I traded for the 5th) or take Butler and a holds guy. When Veras went at 3 I knew the guys behind me weren't going to let Nate Jones get to 10 if I took Hunter at 5. At this point I tried to move down to 8 through SG and was going to just take Murphy and a closer or something like that. Zach wouldn't give me what I wanted to move up. Not being ready for the draft hurt me in not having a plan C. I will give Guerrero a chance now and see if he will develop into something. It's not like I have a strong 2B now. For me getting one closer would only put me into the weekly conversation with those that have 2 relievers (3 would have pushed me into 90% wins IMO) but I'd drop below .500 in holds. Last year I had a good balance (.500 in saves and .850 in holds).
  9. It's such a tough project. I did about 30 hours of work and got through 3 40 man rosters...and it turns out that the rules changed and I was calculating some people incorrectly. For Hendriks it's easy though. He was added in September 2011. Used up an option in 2012 and his second in 2013. Has one remaining.
  10. My pick tomorrow will take all my 12 hours too. I work in the morning have a meeting in the afternoon and getting very drunk in the evening.
  11. I've decided to trade down to 6 through 9. If I can't get a deal made by 9:30 I'll take Guerrero.
  12. are you calling this one a bust or just genuinely being nice and posting? The Beede update threads stopped shortly after it was obvious he'd probably still be a first rounder.
  13. If Rasmus isn't talking extension it probably makes sense to consider dealing him...but I don't disagree with you. We are not better off with Franklin and Gose over Rasmus and Goins...no matter what the next four seasons out of Franklin brings.
  14. asking a players parents to discuss a contract with a major league team without an agent present would be brutal. It's all about the NCAA and their stupid rules. The worst part is that there are so many others that are even more stupid, in rowing it's tradition that the teams bet shirts. Winners get the jerseys of the losers. When Women's rowing became a regulated sport (Men's still isn't as their aren't enough schools competing...title IX ********) they outlawed the practice claiming that it would be gambling...then took it a step further and removed the scholarship from an Olympian who accepted their opponents jersey. Then there is the school that was sanctioned for providing chocolate milk to their tennis players. Gatorade is an NCAA sponsor so you can give them that...but chocolate milk is considered "paying" a player.
  15. slow but still good by my unscientific means. Best I could do for the Saturday and Sunday was 3rd row in 505 (first three rows are reserved for ticket package holders)...that will mean 45K plus for the whole series. There wasn't a game all year where I could get front row section 524 (my favourite seats in the 500 level). Best seats I could get in the front row for the St. Louis series was 533 or 512 (turns out I'm in Vegas for that series anyway so that doesn't bother me). I was able to get near the infield for every game last year so that Cards series would indicate they are slightly ahead of last year or at least equal to with 500 level seats.
  16. I just hope some draft pick turns this on the Phillies next year and publicly claim they offered a pre-draft deal. Same situation, everyone does it but I think the penalty would be the Phils losing a pick the next year. Classless move, classless org, classless city
  17. Draft decisions never really bother me unless it's a decision being made against the opinions of the majority of your cross-checkers/staff (Romero over Tulo, Loux over Harvey for Towers)
  18. Devin Travis (who in my opinion is twice the bat Wong is). I know most don't see him hitting the majors until 2015 but I think he could be ready by late summer. Doesn't help the Jays that much this season, but earlier in the off-season I'm betting he could have been had for a back end reliever.
  19. I'd need someone to park my car in Vegas and yes I'd still have the team in Vegas...just because I'd be there more than in Toronto.
  20. This is what happens when you try and build a 25 man roster and not a 40 man. Good teams have provisions for things "not working out". It was obvious to some back at the start of the Marlins trade that part of what last season was about was selling tickets. He succeeded without any thought of long term. Well ticket sales are doing okay right now, surprises me but hey that's a bonus for AA. He better be over .500 this year though
  21. Dump JPA Buy Time Machine, undo everything after the Wells trade
  22. When he speaks I cringe...and people rip into his ass. When he doesn't speak, people blame Rogers again. It's his best weapon.
  23. Blue Jays...but they are sliding
