  1. I was big on the Jays signing him prior to the 2012 system
  2. he tried for Springer so many times in the winter that I knew I just had to sniff out who really had the hard on for Springer. Cats Ass showed himself early and often so it wasn't tough to figure out who it was.
  3. Fixed for you...you did not come second in the premier league as you posted
  4. best signing of the off-season. Pizza Pizza represents the overpriced free agent. Pizza Nova gives you the same product at a fraction of the contract size.
  5. I thought about that but people thought I was crazy for keeping Mauer at $19.50 last year. There are 10 catchers being kept at least including all the top ones...but still no one seems to spend on Mauer. I still might keep him and dump Leake or a reliever.
  6. 6 teams took pitchers and one took Bogaerts. I picked 8th and 20...Braun just kept slipping (Puig, Kipnis, Santana all went in front of him).
  7. Would love some opinions on this: League Rules 32 players. $320 budget, 12 teams, standard 5x5 roto. 2 catchers, 5 middles (must be 1 SS, 1 2B), 5 corners (1B and a 3B), 7 OF, 8 SP, 3 RP, 3 any pitcher. All players count towards stats (no bench). Moves are once a week on Sundays. 17 keepers. After my 17 keepers I have two must activate minor league players which are Puig and Rendon who get activated at $2.50. This year there are a bunch of big budget players that are forced to go back or will go back. Highest player in the history of the pool is $61...highest last year was Tulo (me) for $53.50. Pitchers go for much less than hitters as the pool isn't all that deep (max of 132 starters). 1 Encarnacion $13.50 2 Gyorko $5.50 3 Seager $10.50 4 Miller $0.50 5 Belt $9.00 6 Carpenter $0.50 7 Martin $0.50 8 Wright $27.00 9 Kluber $0.50 10 Archer $0.50 11 Fernandez $6.50 12 Rosenthal $2.50 13 Miley $6.00 14 Wood $1.50 15 Balfour $5.50 16 Frieri $8.50 17 Leake $5.00 Total $103.50 Activations after keeper list Puig $2.50 Rendon $2.50 $108.50 Options Gennett $0.50 Leake $5.00 Harrison $5.00 Braun $41.00 Tulo $54.00 Fowler $32.00 Ackley $7.50 Longoria $51.50 Holliday $29.00 Mauer $24.50 Arcia $2.00 Bradley $0.50 From what I know I'll be going in with the most money to spend...by over $100 on several players. So if I can't get Miggy (I get the first throw and will be throwing him right away), I'll get Longo for the same as what I could keep him for. Braun is highly disliked in this circle, he'll go undervalued. There are about 4 or 5 of my keepers I can live without and I could trade for Cliff Lee ($25) but he's not tradeable by league rules as he's in the last year of his contract. Is there anyone on my list not being kept that you think I should be keeping.
  8. Auction keeper league. It's both hockey and baseball. First time in 21 years of the pool that it's not going to be a live draft as we couldn't get a date. It's next Sunday online. I might post about my keepers in that league still though as I think my plan might be flawed.
  9. I ended up with another Dynasty pool It was supposed to be 18 teams. 4 dropped out just before the draft. It was put together in 5 days with no input from anyone who has been in a dynasty league before so it was oddly run and still doesn't have a set of rules really. It's a 6x6 roto pool with 9 hitters (one at each position and one utility), 6 starters and 4 relievers, 10 bench spots (weekly roster moves not daily so there won't be streaming pitchers) and 8 minor leaguers. The interesting thing was that the minor leaguers were all in the draft...I had no idea when to take one. I knew the pitching pool wouldn't be deep with only 14 teams. So I went with hitters for 10 rounds. I imagine when I look at other teams I'll like theirs too but I like this team. 10. and my why did we pay for 2 years of his rehab
  11. are other team's message boards starting "Luis Perez outrighted" threads
  12. Too short-sighted IMO. Rosales is replacement level (almost Goins'esk with less defensive potential) but Odor is going to be in AAA to start the season and Luis Sardinas likely in AA. Even as just 20 years old no sense putting yourself in another Profar situation. Even Bostick in High A looks solid.
  13. Bautista is traded to Arizona in a deal involving a SS, pitcher and Trumbo. Melky gets hurt forcing Sierra into LF...Sierra and Trumbo die in a CF collision, which takes place 10 seconds after Rasmus gets the ball into the infield.
  14. I like Spanky's teams chances as much as I like Hosmer to hit 35. That would be an insane amount of line drive home runs (he's need about a 20 FB/HR ratio to hit 35 IMO) I did predict Hosmer for an RBI crown in a similar crazy prediction poll.
  15. There were still some big concerns with Dickey in the second half. He better (has to??) keep the K-rates up around 8 per 9 innings if he's going to flirt with a 38% GB rate. The fact that the GB rates got worse over the year is a huge concern for me.
  16. The announcement that Reyes is out for the season should come about 15 minutes after the Drew signs a 1 year deal in Detroit announcement.
  17. Lawrie gets more than 600 PA's...but at a sub 100 wRC+, not all that bold but I'll throw an arrest in there too. Jays are the biggest buyer at the trade deadline Mark Buehrle has his first season ending prior to the All-Star break AA is called a genius by the media Jays win 40 games through 70 games...then another 40 through their last 92. Miguel Castro is the biggest helium prospect in all of baseball despite 5 BB/9
  18. not every team says "we'll start you in the majors this season if you sign the 7 year contract we offered" I'm completely on the teams side here as I'm all for their negotiating technique, and I don't like Springer's agent.
  19. The ball spins in reverse in Australia, it can be very confusing. Only thing that would have made this better is if he got hurt climbing the fence.
  20. Can't believe I missed this...we carry this injured f*** on three off season 40 man rosters and now we dump him when we could have just added him to the 40 man. I have nothing against Perez directly, just the concept of taking roster spots for relievers that won't contribute. We dumped guys like Wojc and Perez (the catcher) because of a supposed roster crunch, but found a spot every off season for an easily replaceable reliever. These are tiny little moves that AA does all the time, and i know people say I'm overreacting to them but they suck up money (salary, rehab, actual medical cost). The only time a reliever should be part of your minor league depth not on the 25 man roster is when they are young and have either starter or closer potential (thinking Stilson here). The most interesting part of Tuiasosopo is that his cousin catfish'd Te'o.
  21. Didn't see your thread...don't agree that Frenchy is an option for any team but there are several spots that it could have went. (Opening day roster...around baseball, an older 4th OF thread). In no way are we going to set a rule that says we can't make threads about other teams. I probably make as many as anyone over the season...but look around to see if you can find a proper spot before making a thread is all we ask. If everyone else keeps bashing the OP because he wanted to know what's going on I'll be forced to lock this thread.
  22. If he understands the business of baseball he'd know that. He's not completely crazy to turn it down...but that's a lot of guaranteed money and not having to worry about arbitration.
  23. This was probably discussed already (I haven't been around as much lately). George Springer turned down a 7 year $23M contract. Good effort by the Astros to Longo him in.
  24. Anti-Semite He's going to lead me to the Premier League title this year.
