  1. sorry had to run out. I have been working with the Green and Gold Classic for 8 years now. I get paid to convene the two tourneys a year and approached them about the social media thing. Then through that other orgs have approached me about helping them out with tourneys and such. I also get 20% of tables I sell to their fundraising dinners, 20% of sponsorship money I can bring in too.
  2. I'm almost never here and will be for a bit today...that alone should draw a crowd once word gets out
  3. actually I just got paid $500 to take over the Twitter account for an annual event and I'm finding out that a lot of amateur baseball orgs are interested in paying me to do their social media for them. It's surprising to me too
  4. Did they delete that? I wonder if one company does social media for several pro teams
  5. We all know this, you're preaching to the guy that has called this no better than a .500 team all year even when they were 14 games over .500. I'm just saying that it's possible to make the playoffs with a higher ERA (not to mention the Jays fans would be ecstatic with a wildcard spot). Good pitching is much more difficult to acquire. The holes on offense were much easier to plug and improve the team. Moving forward the team might have opportunity to improve the staff internally (the optimal way) lets see how they handle that. But right now the pitching has been about what's expected of them, thus the reason they get a free pass (kind of)
  6. do you know how tough it is to have a -40 wRC like he's done in 39 August PA's?
  7. Got to go Colby here. Nelson keeps it down pretty well which doesn't bode well for Rasmus...but he pitches away from lefties and Colby can actually make contact on those. I haven't played all year so I have to get scientific. There should have been a Dickey option though
  8. again it's probably to do with expectations...also because you are cherry picking teams. The Tigers are in 10th out of 15 teams and in a playoff spot this year. Milwaukee and St. Louis are 8th and 9th and in a playoff spot. The Indians won 91 games with a 3.82 ERA last year, and 4.02 and 3.90 ERA earned the Rangers and O's 93 wins each in 2012. Your whole post could have been summed up by saying "it'll be really tough to win games giving up more than 4 runs per game".
  9. Funny how divorce rates are so high...but people stay loyal to sports teams. I loved my wife a whole lot more than I loved the Jays, Sens, and maybe even the Duke Blue Devils, but my marriage still didn't last and I moved on from that. Moving teams you like is nothing in comparison.
  10. I think you answered your own question.
  11. Funny how I believe in Cleveland (partially cause I have wagers on them to win) but not the Jays. I still am considering an additional small wager on Cleveland at 66-1 to win AL (Jays are 33-1 for the record0
  12. Somewhat why I advocated him continuing to blow up the minors to make the playoffs this year (not that anyone said...if 2013 didn't work continuing to increase spending would be their only way out). They got a huge gift with way more wins in May than the talent shows. This is when he should have added to the team (and not waiver moves)...but this is what happens when you have a short sighted GM. He sees a team 14 games over .500 and he assumes that is their true talent. I get to sit back and say "I was right". You'd think it would get old, but it really doesn't.
  13. Should have gone through your old boxes in May.
  14. Start (or continue) the "Trade Bautista" off-season. This "all we have to do is make the playoffs and things will be okay" front office, had no back up plan and now they are better off not touching it rather than trying to fix it.
  15. Doesn't that title now belong to the guy that the Jays dealt?
  16. Exactly I mean look at all the heart they showed last year when their team increased payroll by $30M....that's the kind of effort we'd like to see.
  17. Not seeing him being rushed at all. He's in his 5th year as a pro, he's got to be added to the 40 man by October anyway...and Buffalo is in a playoff drive whereas New Hampshire is just finishing out the season. He should have a chance to battle for a starting job next Spring...I don't think they will give it to him but he deserves the chance.
  18. has a scoreless inning as a pitcher this year. Your new set up man
  19. I'm going to take Reyes. I have no idea who the regular player in last place is...but I'll pass them by the time the Rays pass the Jays
  20. Fun little line at the end of this article about empty batting average. http://www.bluebirdbanter.com/2014/8/19/6026611/we-had-an-hedge-back-home-in-the-suburbs-over-which-i-never-could-see
  21. Venditte is producing great results but he'll always be known for this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2oD8KzxS14
  22. zero chance the payroll goes down. I'll guess 140 to 145.
  23. CBS Sports even has Japanese players and every prospect who has signed...it might be worth paying for.
