  1. is he correcting his mistake or making the exact same mistake again? This deal and all from this point until probably next year are about making the playoffs. If they don't make the playoffs this is a very negative type move.
  2. I clicked no as well. Just because it's not the upgrade I would have looked for. But I have no clue about availability either. I am pretty sure that Tulo will finish his contract worse than Reyes anyway. And not making the playoffs this year is much more of a hope than a belief.
  3. It is a weak division...just happens that is true of every division in baseball.
  4. sending him to Coors might be the cruelest part of it all
  5. an upgrade is an upgrade. a Full win upgrade on the offensive side is just as difficult to find as a 1 win pitcher for the rest of the year. But at this point it's still all on paper...they actually have to at some point win like they are projected to.
  6. first pic of Latroy Hawkins in his Jays uniform... http://www.ctvnews.ca/polopoly_fs/1.1816790.1399844802!/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/landscape_960/image.jpg
  7. while I agree about Tulo, and don't think there is any chance he puts up $60M in positive value on that contract (the rising K Rate is the first sign). This trade isn't about long term value, nor about what prospects they gave up. If the Jays make the playoffs it's probably worth it (plus I bet the box office is going to be busy tomorrow).
  8. I just assumed with Argos gone...but honestly I haven't paid attention.
  9. no matter what Grass they put in next year it can't be worse than the frozen grass in Colorado in April/May. f*** our current turf might not be as bad as that.
  10. is there anything at all in Reyes personality which would point towards him being difficult? Tulo is a guy that asked for a trade. Fought until a teammate was run out of town (Ubaldo), Nothing about him screams team player.
  11. The really dumm Dave Cameron talking about Tulo trades in May. Fantasy wise the only real loser is Castro
  12. They were 130 wRC+ vs. lefties and just upgraded on that. Trading EE for pitching makes so much sense right now.
  13. got to just search the Jays minor league GB rates. Colorado over-rates GB pitchers (would shock me if they didn't ask for Sanchez). Tirado fits the bill.
  14. no it's 100% true. White hitters are called bulldogs, gamers, muckers. Same type of player being black or latino are called cancers, primadonnas. We have seen it with the Jays for years.
  15. Baseball writers, and fans are racist. It's 100% true.
  16. We did so horrible last time we teamed...got it all wrong. Honestly I don't hate the deal this time though. It's an upgrade this year, but it's another deal where if you don't win this year...looks worse and worse. At least this time I understand the F.O. believing in their position to make the playoffs.
  17. not by the casuals though. They will love his "grit" and "toughness" this s*** is real. No one ever shits on white players who were once great. Think Biggio, Rose, Brett, Chipper. Lesser and younger examples...Jim Edmonds, Johnny Damon, David Wright. No one ever says anything really negative about those guys.
  18. Reyes projection the year after the trade...4.4 WAR Tulo Projection the rest of the this season 1.7 WAR...over 500 PA's 3.8. they are almost exactly in the same place.
  19. and was a year younger than Tulo is right now. Tulo won't ever be hated here though...cause he's white.
  20. I'm buying a Souza Jr. in the off-season. We'll see which one is more liked in 2 years.
  21. Full no trade clause kicks in for Tulo...and a $2M increase in pay.
  22. I think what we know is that we can look forward to over-reactionary "told you he's made of glass and can't play on turf" posts when Tulo gets hit in the hand, and breaks a finger. This is one of the few parks that Tulo can get traded to and it not hurt his fantasy value.
